well that was quite some day at the oval.. huge crush to get in so i watched the first session in the pub.. well pinted up the next seesion was finger nail biting stuff.. the last session was pretty much fun all the way..

justin langer had a good laugh with the crowd in my stand towards the end.. took the hi ho hi ho song in goos spirit.. mcgrath got some 5-0 nil then held up 2 fingers on each hand to signify 2 all.. got 'stand up if your two one up' back from about 5,000 people so he sat down but the best was saved for tait after he dropped that catch, at zero sense of humour alert...

then after a bit of a fiasco at the end where they came out to bat then went off after 3 balls, everyone was geared up to get on the pitch when about 500 goons of hired muscle stopped anyone from getting on and some humourless police nazis strong armed a few people.. what with the helicopter over head i was expecting see some police dogs bought to complete the arsenal spurs big match crowd trouble feel... anyway the highlight was one bloke getting on the pitch then instead of weaving around trying not to get caught, he just ran into the biggest steward he could find and rugby tackled him.. good effort that man!...

a few more scuffles heren there and some abuse shouting at the police then they started the awards bollox.. with the stage being set up on the far side of the ground we could only see it on the screen, i thought fk this i can watch it in the pub if i want to see it on telly so i fked off.. sure there was a lap of honour coming up but i wernt going to hang around for 20 mins for that then spend an hour trying to get back into town.. plus the moment would have gone by then.. all these long winded presentations take the edge off, get the crowd on the pitch get the team out, give em the urn n let everyone go mental, fk all thesponsers and man of this match and series bollox..

its like the fa cup now.. they dont lift the trophy till about 15 mins after the game , fk all that, final whistle get up the stairs pick it up quick lap of honour tata .. setting up stages and setting off fireworks is a load of corporate cr.p...

 

i was back in town and on the cristal (bought by an ozzie of course) before they had finished dicking around on their vodafone pyrotechnic super stage...

 

im bored of cricket now.. when does the footy start..?

You're not wrong about the closing ceremony, urn should've been presented by Benaud at least, rather than just left on a table, whole thing over in 5 minutes

BTW, heard a rumour yesterday that along with the '5-0' rubbish, McGrath said that if England won the Ashes, he would travel back to Australia by boat, dressed in a W.G. Grace costume the whole way...? Anyone clarify?
