One thing Ive noticed since being a proper Margate fan is that Ive completely missed Premiership and similar levels of football fixtures and results in recent times. I completely missed Man Utd win against Newcastle. Does anybody else find this the same case? Do they find that they largely ignore Premiership and higher league football football? Its a first for me.

They definately dont have my full attention and consideration James, likethey once did. In fact after last night I felt a void inside me as I was looking forward so much to the game yet when it was over I was thinking to myself "When is the next game" - "Cant wait". Always nice to have something to look forward to its just that immediate time after the final whistle the anti-climax thing comes into play. Now,the nearer we get to Saturday the more exciting I'm feeling again. As most of you know I have always been a supporter from as long ago as I can remember but these past 3 years has got me more involved than ever before and so I take things a lot more to heart than I used to. Maybe its the contributing, getting involved more, that has made me feel that, for the first time in all those years,I am an ACTUAL part of the club rather than just a paying customer & supporter.

Does anyone else feel similar to me or am I the ONLY sad one around. (Please do not answer that bit).

I agree. Before the carnival I didnt really feel that much of a fan...how could I? I was someone who turned up to a few MISA meetings and drank a beer and generally kept to myself. I never got really involved. Id never been to a game. If anything, I was explaining to fans what I was saying here!

I think as cookie said the involvement was the factor which is drawing people in. People can really get involved and help Margate. No offense to other teams but how many clubs have supporters associations which go round to as many places as possible and slap posters up on windows and spread the word as often as they can? How many associations help out with making sure the ground is ready for the inspection less than 24 hours prior to their League inspection? Thats the drawing factor.

How many new MISA member have joined this season? Perhaps Dave MISA knows? Maybe its time to make a real effort to promote that...

I think a lot of it is that we have been valued by the club, and involved in it, and I do not think this happens to the same extent at clubs that have had plain sailing, huge followings, big sucesses and no troubles.

This coming together that we have felt through being involved at the front end of our club's very survival is perhaps the best thing to have come out of all our struggles.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel such a glow of pride every time I walk around the ground on matchday and see how all our collective effort has paid off.

You don't get that sitting on your butt in front of the telly.

Did you notice the NI fans singing alot of the stuff we do but the decibels we`re much higher that`s the way to surport a team.

Atmosphere wise, last night is as good as it gets. Unless the general apathy towards singing can change and we get a few more people prepared to use their voices so we can give the team more vocal support. And that means singing, not shouting or whatever. An extra voice in the choir is better than a voice shouting "come on". Players won't hear that.

Just to add that if we can increase the singing we could see a big improvement in the performance on the pitch. It makes a big difference psychologically. So how about it, Cookie, TonyM, etc etc, come and stand with the singers? Put your voice where it matters. This should be a campaign and it's an easy one as it's in our court.

I thought Ali was one of ours. I thought he was the one calling for the kids to chant "blue army" till they passed out...they tried!

Ali deserted MFC in 2002 when we moved to Dover and has hardly been since since apart from at Crabble and Southwood.

Its great to hear you all singing but unlike you youngsters my days of singing out loud are gone I.m afraid. I was chanting & singing when some of you werent even born. Just wait till you get older and you will know what I mean. There are times when I do join in but its rare. Sorry. As much as I know its important I just cant seem to do it anymore so if people want to single out certain people for not doing so I suggest you understand their points of view and take into account their ages too plus realise that in the past we have done the very same as you are doing now, before criticising them for not joining in. Ali went to the same school as me so therefore he is of the same age and the more I see him showing himself up the more I realise I am better off taking back stage as far as this goes.I know Ali is an exception but even when he sings and you slate him for it at least he is doing something that I find impossible to do.I know there may be older ones like me still doing it but in the main I think its a thing for high spirited youngsters such as yourselves. I think you all do a magnificent job, though it would be nice to hear something different for a change, but I am proud to be called a Margate fan alongside of you all despite my failings. If I had it in me I would but unlike some of you, with some of us, it just dosent come out no matter how we would like it to. Just leave me to encourage or shout the occasional word in my way. Somethings better than nothing.I love hearing you all doing it as it takes me back to those old days of when I had the same boldness that you all have now. Im behind you & the team nevertheless so dont think for one moment that I'm not. Keep it up as you are the flagship of the supporters on the day of the match and are doing a grand job too.

We are like the VonTrapp family in "The Sound of Music", we start small, learn the words, chear everyone up then hell the whole place will sing.......MAYBE!!

Mr Maskell we all left the premiership behind when we got involved with THE GATE, all you need is your tattoo & your transformation to "The Blue Side" will be complete.
