The youngsters are back this week on the St Albans City Youth Development Scheme ( not PASE or Academy) at Oaklands College.

They are, once again, in the Nationwide Conference Youth League and have been placed in the Midland Conference.

Not PASE or Academy? What are they then? What happened to the PASE Academy?

And why on Earth is Castle still around?

Where did that quote come from GHA?

That St Albans City Youth. Is that St Albans City Youth? You know St Albans City Youth FC, President M. MacMillan, etc. etc.

What has Steve Castle got to do with it? I heard that Muddie was coaching one of their sides. Under 9 East or something.

St Albans City Youth Development Scheme - now thats an interesting one..... you see, to be eligible for any grants / funding from the FA / Football Foundation you have to have a youth section. Having severed the link with the "real" St Albans City Youth FC the word youth had to be worked in there somehow.

All the title needs is a hyphen and a couple of initials, St Albans City FC- Youth Development Scheme and it would read exactly as it is but then some people prefer to swim in murky water.

Problem could be .... St Albans City Youth already has its own Development Scheme, plans of which are with the FA as we speak to enable phase 2 of our development of Highfield Park to gain approval.

Any interseting one for the legal eagles to deal with I think <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

...and another thing.

Just been informed that the "St Albans City Youth Development Scheme' is playing a friendly on Sunday in preparation for the forthcoming FA Youth Cup tie in midweek.

Problem is that we have several boys on the scheme who will now not be available to play for us this week in the Herts U18 County Cup.

They are at college all week so I am told so why pick a Sunday for a friendly ????

If I didnt know any better I might think this was being done on purpose, F**cks me right off.

For heaven's sake, Caretaker. Don't invite legal advice or we will be inundated with responses attached to which will be fee accounts. They don't come cheap, these people.

Now let me get this straight.

Having disbanded the self-funded Reserve team, which was made up for the most part of former St Albans City Youth FC players, St Albans City FC then declined to continue the arrangement whereby St Albans City Youth FC funded and ran a midweek U18 side based at Clarence Park. That side was known as St Albans City and played in the midweek U18 League and entered the F.A. Youth Cup each year.

Over the years a modest number of players, 30 or 40 or so, have continued through the ranks to play for the 1st team of SACFC.

If I understand events correctly, in order to provide an outlet for their players once they reach adulthood and, in the meanwhile, continue to play in the U18 Midweek Youth League, St Albans City Youth FC then formed a loose association with London Colney FC and their home games are to be played at Fortress Cotlandswick.

What is the name of the midweek Youth League side, Caretaker?

I see that 'London Colney FC' have entered the F.A. Youth Cup and will open their account in the round following that in which Oaklands College PASE FC will play.

Nobody will have considered the matter but the Press Release relating to "St Albans City Youth Development Scheme' could mislead the casual reader into thinking that there is a thriving youth 'set-up' at Clarence Park.

I may be wrong but the midweek branch of St Albans City Youth FC (which is the bit we were linked to) is now known as London Colney Midweek Youth (or some such) so we retain the name. Best ask the man in charge for the full SP.

Rob just to put you in the picture.

St Albans City FC and St Albans City Youth FC have shared an affiliation for the past 34 years by virtue of the clubs name. This has been helped throughout that time with many members of our club, both playing and serving officers, assisting at Clarence Park. This affiliation is still in place today. Both clubs also have the same President.

During that time City Youth has represented the senior club in midweek competitions including the FA Youth Cup as ST Albans City FC. It is only this link that has been removed, so having been given the chance to continue playing in such prestigious competitions by London Colney it was the obvious choice to accept their offer and play at Cotlandswick.

When we found out that SC was not going to run a side in the midweek league, as I had been told by the chairman, we did try to keep St Albans City in our playing name but could not do so as SC was playing under that name in the FA Youth Cup. We even tried to add our "Youth" title but that was also thrown out as you have to play under the name of a club at a certain level in the feeder system. So London Colney it was .... for that midweek team only.

We still have 31 teams playing football on Sundays ranging from under 8 (AFF this is the team Kevin Mudd is helping to run) up to under 18, including 5 girls teams this season.

These all play under the name of St Albans City Youth FC and will continue to do so for many years to come. The affiliation will I hope still continue although it is obviously somewhat deminished.

Err.?.

So good luck the Under 18 squad from St Albans City Youth F.C. playing under the banner of London Colney FC in the midweek Youth League and on the Road to Wemberlee.

And good luck to Steve Castle and the lads from Oaklands College PASE F.C., playing under the banner of St Albans City FC on that same road.

Wouldn't it just be the stuff of dreams if the two sides, bursting with home grown talent from this great city of ours could meet in the final next May? Two open-topped buses touring the area. They would close St Peters Street and The Maltings on the day of the final due to the absence of both customers and shopkeepers. The narrow cobbled streets painted yellow and blue on one side, blue and yellow on the other. Scarves hanging from every lamp-post. (That's enough whimsy - Ed)
