South African Super 12 player Ettienne Botha has died after a car crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

 

The Bulls centre, 26, was alone in the vehicle when it veered off the road and rolled near his home in Pretoria. He died at the scene of the accident.

 

A key player in the squad, Botha helped the Bulls to three consecutive Currie Cup titles between 2002 and 2004.

 

He was the leading try scorer in last year's competition with a record 18 and also played for South Africa A.
