update v Fisher

[color:"blue"]Playing a very strong Fisher side and taking into account the team has had very little time together, this must rank as one of the best performances since our Conference days.

We defended well, Hasim Dean shadowing Leroy Griffiths - allowing him little time to be creative.

Their play was well built up, they had a side that would be challenging for honours in the Conference South. Our play was a little more direct, but in an organised fashion, rather than the old kick and hope. Leon, Ellis Remy and Bertie Brayley looked superb up front. We had quite a few chances to score and were taking the shots(none of the 'for Gawdsake shoot' stuff today. This was a free flowing game, we could have scored 3 or 4 ... was McGowan really offside for our 'first'? But equally could have conceded as many. Charlie, Hssim & JK take a bow.

AND ... there's Kola and Gradley and Corbett not even involved today.

That was only one of the two problems I had with the game. There was some trouble with a fog horn. Someone decided to use a fog horn during the second half and when he was told not to use it by a steward got lippy about it. I said to him not to make an issue of it and he started on me... Fair enough I shouldnt have gotten involved but he wasnt letting the steward off...he wanted to see a notice saying not to use it. To bob, I think it was...you didnt deserve that grief from them.

I was quite impressed by the fans largely, plenty of singing, my voice is feeling a little worse for wear although I am softening it with a cool beer right now. Seemed like everybody was in good spirits. Its very noticable that theres no real opposition crowds so when Fisher scored it was very quiet.

I was very impressed with the performance today. Next game I can make is the Bromley away game. Are there any spaces left on the coach? If there are, put me down for a seat please.

If Remy, Leon and Bertie were 'upfront' i guess McGowan played in midfield?

What with Deen(our best midfield player) in defence and gradley out, not too surprising that midfield was not special and makes the result even better really

Whatever Brayley is after he gave a cracking performance and we will just have to reap the benefits of his talents until/if he goes elswhere.Love to have him here but if he goes I for one wont blame him, whether its for the money or to better himself. Grays must surely have a very very good side not to have him in their side at the moment. Top of the conference I suppose gives me my answer.

Fantastic night, and yes, Bertie is a real star. But I must say that Remy is a fantastic player also, and very forceful on the ball and good with his head. Big tall lad. michaelmichael will be pleased at how strong the defencce were tonight. The missing link is still in the midfield, we are not quite there yet, and I think Gradley coming back to fitness will be a major boost. Greg had an outstanding game, and I was very impressed with Standen tonight - he has a great deal more in the tank methinks, and I think we will come to see that soon. Hasim, as ever, towering at the back as he does in the middle, what a superb signing he has turned out to be. And I would like to mention Bill's left foot tonight - made the goal that was disallowed, and he did it with a magnificently placed cross. The header was taken brilliantly by the number 6 - name anyone? - and it was a big disappointment when it was disallowed. Charlie played a superb game, and made some stunning saves.

Had a good chat with Bertie, what a lovely lad, as quicksilver in his conversation as on the pitch. He thinks we have outstanding supporters and a really good set up at Hartsdown. I could not blame him for a minute for aiming to play at the highest level possible, or enhance his earning, would we not all try to do the same if we wore his boots? but if things did not work out at Grays he would certainly get a huge welcome from me if we could bag him in the future.

I have a really good feeling about how this team is growing now.

I'm not intentionally disagreeing with you June but I cant for the love of me see where Standens form was outstanding tonight. Oh well differences of opinions I think. I do believe he is our weakest link at the moment but to be fair and to agree with one of your comments about him.Maybe his best is yet to come.

Hope you heard your congratulations on the tannoy tonight! Couldnt find either of you to personnally wish you the best.

If it was his ball in then I agree on that GFW. But one good ball dosent make a good player in my books. But hey,I will give him the benefit of the doubt...for the time being..May well turn out to be one of the classiest in time. Some mature and settle in much later than others I suppose.
