Stats after seven matches - Test posting

Recommended Posts

I have just got back from a hurricane hit Florida, so am a big jet lagged - if there are any mistakes in the stats, please let me know.

This is really just a test posting - I have so far been keeping a check of the actual number of minutes a player is on the pitch, but would like to know if anyone is really interested in this sort of thing.

So (after seven matches - I am not counting the Cap Lge) - in alpha order, here goes - the first number is the time spent on the pitch, the second is the number of starts, and the third is the number of sub appearances. (I have not included non playing sub appearanaces).

Jordan Bostock – 630 (minutes on pitch) – 7 (starts) – 0 (subs)

Charlie Bull - 358 - 3 - 4

Rikki Burbridge - 77 - 1 - 0

Michael Collier - 540 - 6 - 0

Danny Cowley - 360 - 4 - 0

Nicky Cowley - 403 - 5 - 1

Sean Dear - 389 - 5 - 2

Billy Drake - 126 - 1 - 1

Danny Gill - 50 - 0 - 3

Glen Golby - 540 - 6 - 0

Leigh Hawkes - 90 - 1 - 0

Danny Heale - 620 - 7 - 0

Billy Holland - 417 - 5 - 0

Steve King - 540 - 6 - 0

Ket Koka-Makitu - 110 - 1 - 1

Asa Pamplin - 75 - 1 - 2

Lee Perry - 360 - 4 - 1

Stuart Roberts - 55 - 0 - 2

Lee Sontag - 422 - 6 - 0

Lee Springer - 52 - 0 - 3

Gareth Thomas - 90 - 1 - 0

Greg Tiffin - 626 - 7 - 0

dagger, my only concern is that there appears to be no indication that 'injury time' has been included. can you really call these stats "accurate" without injury time

So time on the pitch - should we include warming up, waiting for the keeper to tie up his shoe laces??? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> etc...

Yes, this is one of the reasons I put it out as a test posting. My logic is simple really - there are 90 "playing" minutes, and stoppage time is really only time added on for stoppages.

This does give a bit of a dilemma - if a sub comes on at 90 mins, and then the referee adds on eight mins, the sub has been on for eight mins, but the player going off has been on for 89 mins.

So what I do is simply to deduct the time the sub is on the pitch from 90 and the remainder is allocated to the player who started the game.

I am open to suggestions on this one, but I cannot think of an alternative that is acceptable. Unlike ice hockey, there is no clock that gets stopped each time a referee blows his whistle.

Must've had a good hols Dagsy, just see it by the swimming pool, Mrs dagsy getting stuck into a James Bond novel and Dagsy counting the number of minutes the Urchins spend on the pitch

Only banter mate, keep it up what about the ratio of throw ins to corners and form a league on that basis.

How did you get all the info whilst away or did you find a decent Internet cafe?

Good to see you in fine form mate!

I got back yesterday and picked up all the info from Rob's reports.

Re-Florida - the hurricane was not pleasant, to put it mildly - no power for twelve hours, hundreds of trees blown down, structural damage, heavy flooding, a tornado which went right through an airfield and turned the planes upside down, and a car parked just a few feet from mine got totalled by a tree - luckily no one was inside at the time. There were seven killed, all by falling trees, in the Miami area.

We caught the hurricane a second time the following day (trying in vain to get to Key West) - we turned back when the roads began to turn into rivers.

This was two days before it hit New Orleans - the TV stations were telling people to get out two days before the hurricane - I have absolutely no idea why some chose to stay, as they were forecasting a force five hurricane (it was "only" force one where we were).

And whilst the hurricane was in full blast over Miami, what was the main topic? It was whether the Miami Dolphins football game would go ahead.

Yet, the following day, apart from the severe flooding in parts of Miami and the Keys, the mounds of fallen trees stacked up, and the queues for food at the red cross points, it was more or less back to normal, as though nothing had happened.
