Time will tell. Margate do ignore local youngsters. I remember watching a certain Leroy Lita as a youngster playing for Margate resies. I wonder what happened to him? He wasn't good enough for the mighty Gate. Maybe it was because he couldn't make it to London training that he couldn't break into the team. There are good local youngsters, it just seems Ramsgates lack of wage budget allows them to give them a chance. Don't kid either, Margate would be far more proud of succeeding with homegrowns!

Plus I would have thought that players would fight harder to win for their home town

NO NO NO don,t think any Margate supporters are fickle, all I,m suggesting is,is that when Margates away andRams are at home you,d be warmly welcomed up Southwood, for some great food ,chilled beer and Tasty staff.Next home game Tues.Lets support Thanet Talent (that,s our hospitality staff) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Indeed, Redbridge looks to be in some trouble, especially reading some of their posts. there doesnt seem to be much of a feel good factor.

My concern is that according to Ramsgates last accounts their expenditure was increasing while their income was falling. I dont know what the situation is now but Im guessing attendance figures of 200 doesnt sound great to me. Perhaps Im wrong. Id at least like to know about the attendance figures...is 250 for example typical for Ramsgate? As we all know Im relatively new to Thanet football.

Most if not all clubs at this level end up in financial trouble sooner or later. Redbridge actually got 60 and they don't have their own ground so have to pay rent. Fisher are in a similar situation but they have a rich backer (Griffiths reputedly on £1,300 a week! Though I think that must be exaggerated).

James, Ramsgate averaged 120 last year when they won the Kent League. First home crowd this season was 244 v Tooting. 194 v Whyteleafe on Saturday.

I remember going to Southwood in the mid-80s there was about 40-50 there. That was when Thanet football was at its very lowest ebb. Margate (then Thanet United) would only get 150. Amazing that both clubs survived all that.

Crowds for both clubs are currently at their best for about 30 years.

if you are coming from W'LEAFE the coach would probally leave at 8:30. Understood?

You're relying on other teams bringing in fans then...can't attract anyone from your own town?

Other than Dover you won't get many away fans in your league. Even in the Premier, Maldon and Redbridge brought no more than half a dozen between them.
