Ralph T says " old Southern League days" Are those the old pre-war Southrn League days when margate got 3-4000 each game, or the other old Southern League days between 1959 and the late 70's when 1500 - 2000 was the norm. Margate only attracted poor attendances in the Thanet United days and the very early 90's. Ralph T should stick to supporting the pub team known as Ramsgate

JK MAskell needs to offer to look after Margates finances. Maybe he could have saved you guys from financial ruin in the same way he kindly forecasts Ramsgates up and coming crash, messgae to JK-don't comment on something you know nothing about, you are making some bold statements!!!

You guys have to admit that the momentum is with Rams, we are catching up with you and soon will be playing the same standard football IMO.

And our fan base that you so condescendingly refer to is on the up from last season. I believe plans are afoot to bring in more fans, but there is a loyal fanbase that will introduce new supporters which will no doubt attract some of the more fickle Margate fans. I think a healthy and realistic target will be a regular 300 home supporters by the end of the season

Oh and just for info- Of the 17 named players yesterday, 13 were from THANET- something that we are all very proud of- Local youngsters and Mark Munday, who is probably the last Thanet based player Margate supporters have seen put on a blue shirt!!

Good luck with the season, just don't be too dismissive of our hopes, targets and plans, you aren't a big enough team to mock us.

13 sunday league players. Margate's players are of a better standard than that. The reason you've only got home grown tallent is because you cant afford the wages of proper semi proffesionals.

There you go again big time Margate. How can you still go on about how good your players are? You are sitting mid-table, playing poorly paying stupid money for crap players!!!

Margate move aside for you are a spent force!!

Let's hope you don't slip further down the football pyramid!!

You cant talk about Rams not affording players- you lot are BROKE you idiots begging for handouts, if young locals can do the job of big time Charlies that you lot have then so be it!!

We aren't doing bad for a pub league side. We often see our players in Thanet, you'd have to live in London to do that!!!!

Hahahahahahahappy mid-table and nil-nil draws- GREAT VIEWING

Broke...have you seen Hartsdown Park recently, or the new signings...or the carnival procession? Margate FC is not broke. When did we ask for handouts? If I remember correctly, Active Signs decided to sponsor Margate FC. A CVA was agreed with the creditors to pay off the remaining monies owed. In fact the final payment should be done soonish. Doesnt look like Margate FC asked for handouts to me.

I think you are referring to the cva. Well for the record im told that our investors are worth mega bucks. We are no longer at risk from the cva. We have a better ground than you with massive prospects. Me thinks you are very jellous.

I'd hate to watch a mid week game at southwood because im affraid that the low level floodlights would give me a migrane. It was nice to see grass on the pitch pre season but I doubt that will last. Was at the pre season friendly. It was a pain in the [****!!****] in getting to the bar at half time and the food took so long I missed half the game. Still you're not used to big gates are you! Oh yeah parking was a nightmare. Still good luck to the rams but get real mate, you've got me in stitches! ha ha ha

Rams fan man states there were 13 local players in the side. Yet half of those players are ex Margate who could not make the grade at a higher level, barring Mark Munday who is now too old to play at that level. You name one club above Ramsgates level who play local players. You will not find any, and if there are they ae not successful. You go on about our team yet we are still building on last season and are unbeaten in 4 out of 5 matches. Ramsgate are unbeaten in 4, not much difference. We will be getting more signings but I doubt you can afford any more. And lastly you are near the top of the league, for now, but can only get 198 through the gate. Sorry but 1273 and 1010 are no comparison. If Ramsgate treble their gate this year it will still be short of Margates average, even if our gates do even out over the season. I have not heard any Margate supporter come on here and wish bad luck to Ramsgate it can only be good for football, but all we get from Ramsgate fans is jealous and unsubstantiated comments. Why don't you just accept that you are still nowhere near us at the moment.

[color:"blue"] Warning to Ramsgate fans - a lot of fans from newly promoted teams come on to these forums and boast they're going to p!$$ through their current division and then the next and so on. Uncle Urchin & Hornchurch were bragging like that this time last season, but though they could 'talk the talk' with silly financial backing they couldn't 'walk the walk' without it.

There were even similar brags from some over exuberant Margate fans when we reached the Conference & how we were only going in one direction - UP .. we all know what happened since then.

So remember, before you make outrageous claims - History has a way of coming back and kicking you in the balls.

Calm down lads, this is becoming a 'my dad's bigger than your dad'argument. As a Thanet resident (and Margate supporter) I would dearly love to see home grown talent rather than a team of egotistic Londoner's who think they have found the big time with Margate FC. Good luck to Ramsgate, if they can win the league with local players they deserve more support from the Thanet residents. Let's all get behind Ramsgate fc!!!

I've got no time for this 'local team for local people' cr*p. Where players come from is irrelevant. What matters is whether they can do it on the pitch. And I don't see how people from London are more egotistical than people from Thanet, unless you mean JJ (only joking Jeremy!)

At the end of the day, MFC have not been below the league they are in now for decades... meaning they are the bigger team. But none of you Gate Fans can deny that Ramsgate are starting to move upwards and we have done ourselves proud. Granted, players at RFC are ex Margate Boys NOT pub players, but the reason they never played was because they never got a chance with C.K because of the big time players he was bringing in? They are good youngs lads, and you might not think this means much but the last couple of pre-seasons they have shown no respect to the so called big time charlies and beat them?

I cannot understand you Margate fans. Margate fc played rubbish football last season in Conference South and are continuing to play the same in the lower league they find themselves in this season. Even the most bias fans must be able to see this. You will end up like Dover down down down

None of us Margate fans are denying that Ramsgate are doing well and we congratulate you. But rubbing it in is childish at best. At worst its blatant arrogance. Ramsgate have won 3 of their last four games....well done. Dont expect the Margate fans to suddenly go singing Ramsgates praises though. Its a fact, every team has its good and bad times. Ramsgate is having a good time right now and Margate are still finding its stride. No team can keep it up forever.

I think what us Margate fans hate the most is the fact that Margate fans keep very much to their own forum but Ramsgate fans come on here and throw their weight around. And yet Ramsgate fans dont like the reaction they get when they slag off Margate!
