Interesting post on Spurs board, about playing one man up front with a five man midfield, like we did in our brilliant 1986/87 season...

 

clemence/robinson=englands no1's

thomas/stalteri=attacking full backs

gough/dawson=tough tackling centre backs

mabbutt/king=class centre backs team captains

hughton/lee yeoung po=classy attacking full backs

roberts/davids=enough said

galvin/reid=workrate good crossers

hodge/jenas=box to box midfielders

hoddle/carrick=silky great passers

waddle/routledge=amazing trickery

allen/defoe=out and out goalscorers

 

I remember that 1987 team, and we were absolutely superb. This guy's made some interesting comparisons.
