Slight technical problem with the website means no site news can be posted at the moment so I'll put it on here.

Good news about Paul Hakim - the injury is not as bad as first feared and he has done a 'McGrath' and is recovering quickly. In fact, he could be in the squad to face Hayes on Saturday.

Also, for those of you just back from your hols, yesterday saw the annhiliation of the league favourites Weymouth in surely one the most entertaining games seen down the Park for a long while (some might even say 'pulsating' but not me).

Long range shots from Davis and Cousins set the tone as City pushed forward with purpose and they were eventually rewarded when a push by Chuki Eribenne on Clarke was adjudged a penalty by the linesman. Clarke got up and sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. 1-0 32 mins.

City had a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 just before the break but Martin shot tamely into the keeper's hands.

Second half was all Weymouth with non-league international Adam Wilde giving Chris Seeby a torrid down down the left wing. After sustained pressure they got the ball in the net but the linesman flagged for offside. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of them a bit and a few minutes later Clarke picked up the ball just in his own half from Martin, ghosted past a couple of defenders and just when he appeared to be about to have a shot, lifted a delightful chip from 25 yards over the surprised Weymouth keeper into the far top corner of the net. Goal of the season thus far.

With Weymouth still reeling from this, a few minutes later Martin squared for sub Matt Hann to sweep home gleefully from 12 yards. 3-0.

Salt was finally rubbed into the wounds a minute from the end of normal time when Scott Cousins picked out Djoumin Sangare from a corner and his powerful near-post header had too much power for the keeper to stop it squirming under his body. 4-0.
