Daish In!

Recommended Posts

It seems only fair that we have a contradicting point of view from those that aren’t the doom and gloom merchants some of you are. Also many of you were slating Daish after a poor result at Grays, I think I should be allowed to stick up for him now that we have had a fantastic result away to Woking. My thoughts on the matter don’t come into it; I’ve decided to write this so here it goes.

I had most of this in mind when a lot of you were giving the guy stick, but due to my ban was unable to say anything. You should look at this as an end of month review for August.

First off some of you that were at Grays seem to think we should be given our money back for the apparent inept performance to our Essex counterparts. Why? To think like this would mean you think that we are in some way customers to the club, we’re not, we are fans. When you enter the ground anything can happen if you’re not happy with that then don’t come again. The win at Canvey and again at Woking was your money back, whether or not you were there to accept was up to you.

Another thing is some of you have said you haven’t renewed your season tickets because of the way Daish manages. This is insane, if the club is in such a bad state now then they need you more than ever, you’d get one if the club was on a high. I can only hope that in some way you miss out on a possible trip to Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Matt Lovell. Funny how he managed to register the day after we lost to Grays, would he have done the same had we been on the right end of that result. Personally I think we should be given our money back for the pathetic way he left the pitch at Hastings, no-one deserves to just turn up and wear the shirt Matt, you least of all. That’s if it actually is him, why is it when someone comes in here and registers, Pullen’s dad Matty Lovell ect you all swarm round and believe and it defiantly has to be him. Anyway now the results seem to be going our way you won’t see Matt Lovell on here again, someone who only seems to come on here and gloat when we lose.

Some of you seem to think that you can say Daish out and he’ll jump or be pushed, apart from anything else for him to leave at this stage of the season would be ludicrous. Four weeks ago we were looking forward to the season starting, now five games in and we want the manager out. All because of the Grays debacle, a game had the ref not had such a poor game would not have been such a bad result. We were one goal down until 60 minutes, the last three were conceded to a goalkeeper that had never played a first team game.

Not to mention the way you say Daish should go. It’s almost as if you’re telling Kilcullen what to do and how to run his club. Put a large amount of money in and make your way on to the board or shut up, that’s the only way you can have a say on what goes on. Apart from that you all seem to think you have the right to tell Daish what to do, Daish has a thick skin so the comments won’t harm him but some of you seem to think that you have a right to throw insults at him. You don’t. You could go up to him in the bar after a game and say can you explain to me what happened against Grays, or you could rush home after a game and post snide comments on here, the decision is yours.

Finally some of you have decided to protest, 9 in fact. 9, are you sure? That isn’t a protest, that’s a joke! How can 9 of you singing Daish out compare to 60 of us sing Liam Daish’s Barmy Army? Not only that we’ll also have a drum. Although if you really are thinking of protesting can I recommend you contact some fans of clubs that are used to holding such protests; Spurs, Leeds and more recently Man Utd fans. Although I warn you that these people are used to running protest’s made up of at least 500 fans and running up into the thousands, when you tell them you only have 9 you may get laughed at.

Post insults below.

No insults Harry. Why can't you always comment so fluently. I can't believe it is the same person that has written some of the comments previously. You are better when you are being serious and it is nice to read something sensible and well thought out. Only trouble is I'm not sure if you will like being praised for once. I get the feeling you like stirring it a bit. It sounded as if the whole team deserved man of the match today.

100% well said, Harry.

I am a quiet one on here, and usually don't like to get into conflicts and arguments, but to me, every single word you wrote there made sense. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" />

I agree that Daish didn't have the best of starts, and that people over reacted. Maybe they were expecting too much of Daish off of such little time. Sure the friendlies went reasonably well, especially the one against the big club, Charlton, which meant the energy and hype around the club and indeed the fans within was on a high, and the last thing you would expect was a 6-1 demorilisation against one of your closest rivals.

I am not trying to give an explination for those concerned in trying to put their point of view accross in the form of axing Daish, but it came as a shock to them, and some acted like kids in the form of retaliating and saying "oh I quit from the club". If coming on here makes people think they're real fans, then I'd tell them to think again.

A real fan is one who sticks with a club through thick and thin, who should give their money AND SUPPORT to the club AND MANAGMENT. Sure they can say their POV, but telling it so forcefully is unfair, and unacceptable to those towards it is aimed.

Thankfully, as said above, Liam is a tough character and can see through these mindless people who can only pick negatives from each game.

I wish Liam and all the players best of luck for the future, and please, Liam prove all them people wrong by doing well in all competitons this year

Cheers,

Well done H, well said.

As has been said before, we have to give Liam a chance to stamp his brand of football and Colin's fitness regime on the club. Last year he was still in charge of Andy's team. Now it is his.

The Grays result was a one off. We were beaten by the better side on the day, but also by one whose bubble will burst.

Certainly we look fitter and faster than last year, players such as the Smith boys, Slatter, Bowry and MacDonald are clearly an improvement on what we had.

It was always going to take time to gel. As Liam and Alan said, pre season games were not about the result, but finding players who would be up to standard. This largely has been done (although I still have reservations about Kerr and Holloway).

A lot of positives have come from the last 3 games.

The defence now look very solid,

The midfield are a real powerhouse, full of running, with scorers amongst them.

In Manny and Charlie we have 2 strikers whose pace will unsettle any defence in this league.

We have players in reserve who can also do a job.

The question is, will fans like Riverview Red still be calling for Liams head now?

Thanks guys.

Vera, sometimes I do like stirring it a bit but only with those that seem to want to stir it with me first.

Three things I don't like on this forum.

A. People hear things from those inside the club and then come on here and tell us all. I'd rather not know thank you very much as I will find out in good time.

B. People that slag of others when they have no idea what is going on. I write the away travel directions in the programme. I don't drive so have obviously never driven to any of the grounds. Chris asked me to help in anyway that I could so when I had a bit of a think about what isn't usually in the programme but should be I thought about this. Now as I say I have never driven anywhere so I rely on multimap. I put in the clubs postcode and the postcode of the club we're playing I then alter them a bit as the info is from a computer. I have people tell me they think they're not very good but I am doing my best. Criticism is good so if you think I'm doing something wrong then tell me.

Finally and rather predictably C. People come on here to basically throw insults at the manager. As I have said before (and am thinking about changing into my signature) Daish is always in the bar after a game, if you're not happy with something go in there and tell him. As long as your not loud and sweary (Harry invents another new word) then he'll tell you. To come one here and post comments about him being a "pathetic manager" is just wrong. And as for how well were doing this season, we are 14th, I can think of 8 teams that would swap positions with us right now if offered. Add to that every other team in Kent bar one.

I personally have no problem with Mr Daish, just the manner of the previous managers departure.

After following 7 years of growth under Fordy , I was dismayed to see the humiliating departure he had to endure. I am loyal to the club, and I expect the club to show more loyalty to its employees, especially ones that have helped drag the club up from the doldrums.

That is why I did not renew my season ticket.

Of course , as a loyal Fleet fan I wish Mr. Daish all the best and trust that he has the skills to push us further forward. Altough, I have had my doubts about the style of football and tactical awareness of the man, there is no doubt we now have the finest squad ever assembled and are now putting in the performances to justify it.

I hope it continues and my faith in the board returns.

Couldn't agree with you more about your original post Harry, far too many people being far too vocal far too soon about things for my liking. Where's Daish Out or whoever he was now? As for your second post, I don't really care about (A), there's been so much rubbish posted on here about players who are supposedly on their way here that I just ignore it all. For (B) try Google Map, I use it all the time.

I didn't get a season ticket either - but because I cannot make about 40% of home games. I have made a suggestion to Mr Kilcullen who has very graciously looked at it carefully, is considering it, and has kindly written to me not once , but twice to update me on the progress of my idea.

Truly the club is destined for greater things with a man as approachable as Brian at the helm.

We may be even better than 14th as teletex put us at 13th. I agree with you about people hearing things from those inside the club. Very often they have either misheard or been mis informed. I have been whispered to about inside secrets. Up to now none of these whisperings have transpired. To me to resort to calling a manager pathetic on a forum is to be a coward. It must be the worst most stressful job to have. Certainly at our level a manager isn't in there for the money so they like the team need encouragement. I promise to keep quiet now as I refrain from commenting usually and leave it to the men, so back to the kitchen sink for the rest of the season.

Wayne,

My dig at those not renewing their season tickets was not aimed at you. I know your a loyal Fleet Fan and only wants to see the club do well. I think we might come from different backgrounds, me and my dad always filled in our season ticket renewal forms in February when Chelsea used to give them out. We did it with out question.

The reason you chose not to renew your season ticket is up to you and can hope that you can only find it in yourself to renew.

I am not sure that we do, apart from a hardcore 100 or so, most of the rest of us have done time on premiership/championship terraces , and yes we had season tickets there as well, its just that most do not go on about it.

But what was done in the past is irrelevant , its what happens in the future that counts.

I also agree with Harry's sentiments. Well said. I was also glad to see that Vera went to the Cambridge game afterall. I never witnessed any dissent from the "Daish Out One". More results like the last 3 and the threat of disruption will be just a distant memory. Or better still, completely forgotten.

Totally agree with everything youv'e said Harry, I have to admit I am still not totally convinced that Daish is the right man, but as i've stated at various times I want to be proved totally wrong, I was also dissappointed at the loss of Andy and the way it happened, but we have to move on.

Having supported the Fleet for over 40 years, even though now it's most of the time from afar, I just want the best for the club the same as everyone else.

To not renew your season ticket in a fit of pique because your'e not happy with the manager etc. harms the club overall, and is hardly the act of a true fan.
