A good Foorballer is still a good Footballer any time!

And there's my point.

Iwan Roberts is simply an old, possibly soon to be 'ex-league' player.
Not quite the same as an aging Bergkamp, to use the Arsenal connection in your post.

Being 'ex-League' doesn't automatically mean he's good enough.

We are back to slagging off players before they have played again

Not at all - can't see anybody that has slagged off the player.
I see plenty of differing opinions on whether he is good enough or not (at the age of 37!)
Like you say, it's for Mr. Daish to decide.

Well its now just after 2.30pm on transfer deadline day.

I don't know what time the deadline comes into effect, but as things stand it doesn't look like Iwan Roberts, Alex Revell or anybody else is going to be signing.

But wait....................................

As Bloodnock says above, though, the transfer deadline probably doesn't apply to Mr. Roberts, since he's currently not contracted to any club.

It applies to any player that you want to put on a contract.

After today the only players that can be brought in are loan players and players not with a club who can be signed on non-contract terms.

Any player that wants a contract after today will still be able to sign in the Conference feeders and below.

(at least this is my understanding)

Ah well never mind.

Seeing how he hasn't got any big clubs under his belt (Only Liverpool and Real Madrid) our lot would have given him mountins of stick anyway.

One thing though if he had have came to us then he wouldn't have had 15,000 plastic Newcastle fans wondering around telling everyone they're a big club and have the "best fans in the world".
