burton albion had the first 20 mins of game resulting in a goal also Mckinney making a save to deny Albion up 2-0 but then on after canvey started to play better... resulting in a corner which clarke supplied the cross and lee just poked the ball home in a scramble in the penatly box (just on half time)

 

Canvey moved up a gear in the second half and we played like a unit caused alot of problems for their defence and then from the edge of the box Lee scored an absoulte scorcher in the far top corner with the goalkeeper stranded.

 

Lee nearly scored a third after being put thru but the goalkeeper held onto firmly. some great defensive work at the back with bimson, ward and sterling which even he done some tricks and even having some shots at goal.

 

towards the end bimson and Mckinney combining to stop Burton equalising and richie even tipping over a Shaun Harrad shot and then we held on even with the 4 minutes stoppage time to clinch our first away win of the season.

Great performance today. We were awful in the first 20 minutes or so and conceded a cheap goal from a set piece.

 

Gradually we settled down and started to play some good football. Lee scored a poacher's goal for the equaliser and his winning goal was just sublime. The moment it left his foot you just knew it was in. Marco Van Basten eat your heart out!!

 

Thought Ibe was outstanding up front. bGave us some muscle up front and a great bit of skill nearly saw him set up Lee for a third that their keeper saved.

 

Bimson defended like his life depended on it, twice throwing himself in front of shots although the second time he looked like he might have used his hand.

 

McKinney in goal had another excellent game. Great one handed save in the final moments to deny Harrad.

 

Clarke had a much better game and Sedgy and Mints were tenacious in midfield.

 

I think we may have caught Burton on a bad day. They had a lot of possesion but never really did anything with it but we caught them out with a sucker punch on the break. Defence still looks a bit ropey especially from set pieces but at least we are playing as a unit and are now capable of soaking up the pressure and hitting teams on the counter.

 

Well done boys it feels great to finally win on the road at long last!!
