Todays game

What a frustrating game today the lads looked knackered especially Lee Sontag.Why when they had gone down to 10 men were there 4 defenders marking 1 striker.Support from the midfield was hardly evident until the last 5 mins.They had a height advantage at the back and we seemed to play to their strength by lumping the ball into the area instead of playing it through on the ground.I hope the players get some rest and wish them best wishes on tuesday.

by the way when was the last home 0-0 draw?.i have watching 3 years now and cannot remember seeing one.

I agree they did look tired today, lee sontag has been feeling rough all week, and danny healeeeeeeee was injured with his leg.

 

But we will all be up for tuesday night, (game on) and with our eastside disco that will be in fine tune with their voices, it will be a good night.

Lee sontag not feeling well can explain why he seemed exhausted quite early into the game.Danny Heale must be given credit if he was nursing an injury as i thought he put in one of the better performances today.

What were Chalfont like? Played then several times over the last few years and they were always poor. have they improved? I honestly thought you guys would put a few past them.

Chalfont were good at the back and their goalkeeper appeared useful.Their centre backs were good in the air but a bit cynical in the tackle,the ref today let them get away with some nasty tackles from behind.Considering they down to 10 men for almost all the match they played well,though i must strees we were poor today.

I heard their guy got sent off for handling on the goal line. Is this right?

 

btw. You drew 0-0 with Canvey a couple of seasons ago.

Its funny how sides go from bad one year to good the next. Chalfont were abysmal last year but they must have been decent to stop you scoring.

I thought it was definately a game of two half and neither of them were to our benefit.

1) Their keeper Mckechnie played very well and made some fine saves.

2) also the left back Ghattaora had a good game.

3) The officials made some strange decisions

4) Chalfont defended very well and only had two shots on goal.

5) it was one of those days and we have to travel away for the replay.

We tended to flood the area with cross after cross rather than keep the ball on the floor and do what we do best which is play football.

well it certainly was a funny old game thats for sure....we started brughtly and then the handball on the line...sending off and missed penalty...that put a spring in the chalfont step and we were poor for 60 minutes thereafter...they had 10 behind the ball thinking of tuesday and in truth did very well...in the last ten minutes we slaughtered them and could and should have scored 5..(we had one disallowed)..

 

if we score the early penalty we win the game with ease....

 

I think we should beat them on tuesday but beware the pitch......it makes hullbridge look like the millenium stadium... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I was going to ask if you missed the resulting penalty. From what I heard the guy who got sent off was trying to do his best inpersonation of a goalkeeper!!!

He didn't miss, the keeper saved it...

 

A miss is when you don't hit the target, he did, the keeper just done well.

don't talk crap PM...he missed the penalty as in we didn't score and it wasn't a good save it was a very poor penalty as Billy would tell you himself....

i love footy,i won't know what happens till the final whistle,but i will tell you this,leigh on sea on a sunday afternoon is untapped resource,absolutley fantastic
