Bring on Waltham Abbey in next round FA Cup

Recommended Posts

Hold on chaps.

The main instigator of the trouble at Wabbey was that Town 'fan' who we'd never seen before and never seen again since. It was he who ran on the pitch to confront the referee and, I believe, spat at a Wabbey player and got a deserved shoeing.

I'm not overly disappointed to be playing them. Yes they are a good side and inflicted our only meaningful League defeat last season (plus the LC final farce). But a good crowd and a 3-1 win home win to look back on last season tells me we've got every chance. Won't be easy, without a doubt, but as winable as today was.

Looking forward to it.

He's right chaps, everyone wants to do well in the cup and they'll be more up for it as they're still in a "lower" league and the perception of their players is that the Town will be thinking they're better.

So they will raise their game to prove a point.

It's always the same, our lads will have to be up for it and show as much as them and not be too complacent.

I'm sure they wont.

Any chance that we can concentrate on the actual game to come rather than what happened with certain sections of the supporters last season?

ETFC should treat it as another 'banana skin' game and expect W Abbey to come at us with all guns blazing. It is the FA Cup, remember.

Of the last 4 games we have only won once. I'd say Waltham Abbey might still be favorites. They certainly know where the goal is.

'Might still be favourites!'

Softie - The sun has got to you. We are the favourites to progress as we are the higher placed team.

No one said that Wimbledon FC were the favourites before they beat Liverpool.

Results from the last four seasons go out the window. This is the FA Cup and we are only 11 rounds away from Cardiff/Wembley.

Hello all!

Apparently on the subject of favourites we were against Wingate 6/5 and they are in the "higher" league.

We have lost 4 players to AFCH so that ain't helped. Most important thing, big crowd...good game...and Sid Powell putting his hand in his pocket will do me!!!!

I've never heard such nonsence,Softie. We finished well above Abbey in the ESL last year (we were champions unless you've forgotten). The last time we played them at home ,we beat them 3-1.From what i gather, their squad is not quite as strong as last season, whilst Towns squad has been improved on, from last season. We are a step higher than Abbey, and we will have home advantage.

Are you baseing your opinion soley on the fact that Abbey beat wingate by 4 goals, where as we only beat then by 3?

Or are you baseing your opinion on the farce of a league cup final last season?

I think you may have a short memory. Abbey were walking the league unbeaten last year with a massive points lead until they lost a few players through injury. Their misfortune was our luck.

Have we or have we not lost 3 out of the last 4 times we played Abbey? When we beat them 3 - 1 we did beat them with a very good performance. Then in the Cup Final we were poor regardless of the officiating. Two wrongs do not make a right. We can beat Abbey. BUT Abbey beating Wingate and Finchley 6 - 2 tells me the Wabbey Chavys will be ready for us. Nobody wants Town to win more than I do.

I really think you've lost it,Softie.

So Abbey lost a few players through injury last season.Well, the've lost a few players to Hornchurch now. (including their top goalscorer last year)

We totally outplayed them in our last league clash at Brimsdown, and feel we deserved at least a draw in the away game. That last cup final was an absolute farce, played on a concrete and gravel dust bowl, topped of with a phycotic referreeing display. No one can take that game as a marker.

As Andy said.Is beating Wingate by 4 goals at home, better than beating them by three goals away???

Who else thinks Town go into the game as underdogs???

Town lie 7th in the Southern league Div1.Abbey lie 10th in the Essex senior.
