Yeah i know you are having to make changes but does that mean that you cannot play the ball on the ground.

Thank you Ramsgate fan (Vince) or is it Footballfan. I have to agree with you on the long ball forward comment, but as for your players being quality players because of it I have to disagree. Our problem is that we dont push forward as a unit therefore we have nearly all defenders defending for long periods of time including those very important midfielders who should be getting hold of the ball and distributing to those up front but from the midfield and not from our penalty area. There is always one big hole in the middle of the park when we play which should always be filled. Eight at the back with two up front with no-mans land in between will give other teams the room to play the ball around.This is where we let ourselves down, as teams that are not generally that good are made to look good by our tactics. Once the ball is played out of opponents defences we should be there closing down and picking the ball up.

 

It dosent mean that if a team passes the ball that they are quality players..It also dosent mean that long ball tactics by certain players mean those players are LESS quality. Its the positioning of the players that needs addressing i.m.o.

 

Really applying themselves to the game and really wanting to win it is a major contributory factor to a good positive result. Those attributes applied to the RAMS team on the day they beat us, coupled with bad positioning on our players part.

It made your team look much better than they are.This has been a problem we have had for a while now and not only does this give an ordinary team a result but it gives them a lift,gives them inspiration and confidence.

 

Ball control is also a major contributory factor and without it, passes are not met and therefore a constant keeping hold of the ball is not possible.

 

We must turn this around and play the game in the opposing half rather than in our own.We must learn to control and pass with more accuracy and push forward more rather than hold back.As others have said its still early days yet this season but even having said that we should have come out of the blocks running in the first place rather than having to wait for the team to gel. It is taken into account the facts of the recent embargo etc but we should be doing it now not later. We will just have to wait whilst dropping valuable points for that to hopefully come to fruition.

Thats how I see things anyway.

Hang on that must mean they are less players if all they can do is play the long ball. Quality players are able to play the ball out along the ground. But dont worry Im sure it will pick up once your players get to know each other.

If you read my long long post(sorry for that but I kept thinking of more to say as I did it) & digest what I have said you will find that I am saying the opposite.I am also saying that a quality player should have more to his game(off the ball) than just having ball skills.

However I do notice a distinct difference in grammar from some of the posts compared to yours, so in fact I shouldnt really be putting all the onus onto you really should I?

I think in truth, by now, it should be clear just which posts are yours and which are'nt.

Just to clarify though i do agree with what Vince said , but i can not really use it to say how bad you are because of it , as i am quite aware the "kick and hope" or what's more commonly known as the Bolton approach gave you an extremely successful season in the Conference . Which you where unfairly denied the right to play in the LDV's

To be honest I can't understand why this other Ramsgate fan is coming on here with different aliases (it's obviously the same person) and is banging on about the same cr*p.

CK has been in charge for nine years so I think we should all know that he likes to play the long ball. And have we not been successful?
