Agree with Gary - when Ballard returns team picks itself apart from the attacking midfielder position. Also maybe were missing Leigh Masons creativity after a storming pre-season until he was inujred.

5-3-2

GK: Parkin

RWB: Carbon

LWB: Woodruffe

CB: Daly

CB: Avery

CB: Ballard

CM: Mets (Should win POTM this month by far)

CM: Wilko

CM: L Mason / Harris / Alexis

CF: Hodges

CF: Seedel

Like the look of that team IF the front two can hit it off...

I think that any points from the first 5 games is a bonus. They are all good stable clubs who are going to do well this year and our side is starting to gel. Alexis looked useful yesterday at times but spent more time watching the ball deciding whether or not to go in for a challenge,Brooks looked useless to be fair he didnt threaten anything and looked out of his depth but hopefully more games will cure that as he didnt look match fit. Hodge and seedel were left stranded with nothing coming from midfield all game, apart from Woodruffe who threatened early on but faded way. Padget looked solid when he came on towards the end but im not sure whether he warrants a first tem place.

I would expect the team to look like this against Hampton

Parkin

Carbon, Daly, Avery

Woodruffe, mets, Wilko, Harris, Alexis or T Daly

Hodge, Seedel

So true I did not want to tar all the Wimbledon supporters with the same brush, The majority were great..but they need to sort out the bad apples before the club gets and undeserved repruptation.

Good luck to Wimbledon for the rest of the season..but please don't forget teams out here in non league land don't have the following or the experience of playing and supporting a league team, therefore their do their best to provide football to their local supporters at small grounds and on poorer playing surfaces and have less faclities than many, so don't run us down for that!

enjoy the banter have a drink mix with other supporters and above all respect all those involved in football at this level...

Radders said:Avery did win headers, whoopedy doo, I am shocked seeing as he is about as tall as me. The fact is he spent too long dwelling on the ball on numerous occasions, one of which led to their first goal. I know I keep going on about him, and I know I worked with him which probably means people think I favour him, but Paget won just as many headers when he came on from half Avery's height

Being tall has nothing to do with it. It doesn't stop you being crap at heading!

Paget won headers becaue he was challenging their winger not their two centre forwards. Avery gave the ball away once, as far as I recall, and it led to the goal. But if we're going to pillory individuals for errors, what the hell was Parkin doing rushing from his goal for the second?

Personally I'd like to see Daly, Avery and Ballard in a back three or, alternatively, Paget in the three with Ballard in the centre of midfield. Woodruffe needs to be allowed to get forward more and Alexis needs to be moved to stop him nullifying Carbon coming forward.

I'd go for:

Parkin

Daly, Ballard, Avery

Carbon, Metcalfe, Harris, Wilko, Ruffruffe

Hodges, Seedel

You could then have Paget, Shepherd, Mason, Miller and Brooks on the bench.

I totally agree with Ian, Paget may have won a few headers yesterday, but at Billericay and when he came on against Leyton I felt his positional sense wasn`t correct and often got caught the wrong side of the ball and the right winger was able to come inside far too often. Obviously this will improve with games, but I don`t think his is ready to be a first team starter just yet. Alexis for me is just a total waste, he needs to not bottle out of challenges, his crossing isn`t anywhere near as dangerous as Josias and I felt that after the subs were made yesterday he had no idea where he was meant to be playing and just got in everyones way!

Enjoyed my day out yesterday, and thank you to the two friendly rebels who showed me where to park!

First half was good, you edged it in midfield - but as we showed last season, we're solid if unspectacular.

Shame about the ref and the second half.

Why are you moaning about the attendance? Do you usually get more, or are we obliged to come in more than our 1,000's?

Good luck for the rest of the season, and sort your bumpy pitch out ;o)

Totally agree witht that team at the moment, i see one noticable abscence, is the honeymoon period over? Not even on the bench eh Ian?

Also what has happened to Mets he played well last season (And i have him MOM a number of times) but this season he has been the perfect midfielder, toughtackling going foward and back and his passing has been great! The lack of sleep from having a nipper must be doing him the world of good!! Currently my POM by a mile!

Well although I'm a girl and probably don't know anything, since, by being a girl the only way i could have an opinion would be to copy my male counteraprts (isn't that right Ian/Marcus?.... Grrrrr)

My humble opinion of the match was that we were unlucky in some respects but sadly didn't deserve the win. I wish Eddie had brought on Miller and Harris earlier, The game was screaming out for Glen to be brought on after the break.

Miller looked pretty useful again and I agree that perhaps a partnership with Hodges might make for a fruitful relationship, because if there's one thing we're lacking its someone who's prepared to shoot...

Having said that, fair play to AFC's defence yesterday, they completely dominated the play down that end particularly their captain (who's name escapes me)

Metcalfe was on fire again yesterday and Josias gave 100% throughout

as for the whole STFC defense argument that's developing here, I personally thogh Paget was getting better yesterday but that Avery just beats him due to his physical presence.

Re: Brooks, the lad's only played one game, give him a chance...

Come on the Rebels!

Brooks is coming back from a hip injury.

It looks like he's just running around trying to get fit without the total commitment that we need.

At this level it doesn't matter how much skill you've got if your not prepared to get stuck in sometime during a match your not much use to anyone.

Just to play him because he was a good player before his illness and injury is a big mistake.

Just one thing about Alexis - look at Alex Haddow. Took half a season to get use to the pace and physical Ryman league after drifing out of league football and was not that great to start off with.

Feel it may be the same with Alexis, and feel that if his attitude is the same as Haddow's and is willing to learn and put 100% effort in he could become a very good player for us over the second half of the season particually.

I'm sorry, but i do not think Alexis looks that interested.or that goodI can't recall haddow being that bad when he first joined. Why he started ahead of chopper........Thought i'd never say this,...but we would be better of with spencer.

I agree with an earlier posting about brooks, just because he could be a good player does not justify us playing him out of position jut to get fit. He is lost out there.

Hey, i could be wrong, hopefully i am.

Am I the only one who is started to get annoyed with Seedall's near enough total lack of passing?! I don't think Josh is as good as seedall, but at the moment we do not need a greedy git but someone who is prepared to run and put some effort in.

Was a bit dissapointed in yesterdays game. Thought the defense (I thought Daly was superb), and the keeper did ok, and thought Mets had another blinder(well done Zinedine), as for the rest, well, I am not saying that hodges had a good one, but seeing him going deep or wide to get the ball or supply crosses is not where we need him.

I'm still waitng to see the legend that is Westie run out for us this season!!!!!!

Exactly what i said either earlier on this one or on another thread.... We are only 3 games into the season..... I honestly think we should beat Hampton, and if we dont its only 4 games gone in the words of Dennis Greene, see where its all at after 15 games....

Replying to so many points:

1) I will remember to hand count the paying Stones fans into our ground then.

2)We all heard talk of 1500 plus travelling supporters - I think we will all be disappointed if later in the season we see more Dons fans going to other games. Bear in mind the only money we make is from gate receipts (and we are cheaper than some other clubs). Although obviously we need to improve our own support as a priority.

3) It is early in the season and we should not panic and we have had tough games. We neeed to give the new players time as well.

We all knew as soon as we saw the fixture list that we would have a tough start, so lets not panic too much. Yesterdays performance wasn't brilliant but we are still missing a couple of key players and are bedding in new players. When is Ballard back? reckon it must be either Braintree or Redbridge.
