Our badge?

Anyone know why we have red and yellow in our badge? Red could be because that is the colour we play in at home, but why yellow? And why do we play in red at home?

 

Also anyone know why the has a black background? Why the ship, could be something to do with Gravesends links to the river? The nickname The Fleet is obviously for the same reason.

 

Anyone know?

The fleet also due to the end of northfleet - or thats what i've always thought. I think yellow as yellow and red clash - so then it will stand out.

The badge used to be just black/red and white... I think the yellow was added in our golden jubilee season in 1995-96. Don't know why though!

So it's yellow because it's our away kit? So will we be changing it to gold for this season then?

Technically no, if it was indeed changed in 95-96 (and I'm not 100% sure), our away kit at the time was white.

I don't believe it has anything to do with OUR kit. What colour did Gravesend United play in?

the badge evidently was when gravesend utd and northfleet utd merged in 1946

have to disagree with that mighty mole I beleive the badge was designed in the late sixties early seventies..At least that what i remmebr what my Dad told me
