I would be careful uttering the words:

as this is the exact phrase that Mr Calder used in his column in the programme on Saturday. Clearly this isn't so. There certainly wasn't enough fight in the team for this match, and we really need to be quicker on the ball.

not a bad draw, we're at home which i feel is very important as we haven't been beaten there yet and prior to saturday's game had only conceded one goal there all season.So far braintree have only won one league game (against us, when they really deserved nothing out of the game) and have only managed to score seven goals.

despite this though it is a one off game and anything can happen. the boys will certainly have to raise their games for this one.

Seems strange that we have a better squad this season and motivation STILL seems to be a problem.

Gazza, you do come out with crap at times, do you think calder and borg and snowsill were happy with what they saw in the first half, do you think alex furguson was happy when his side lost at home to bolton.

Other than Saturday I think the desire and will to win shown by the players has been pretty good - the 2nd half v Hendon (with 10 men) was as determined and up-for-it a performance as I've seen for a long while. I suspect (and hope) that the 1sy half against yeading was a one off aberration borne out of the players underestimating their opposition. Having already been beaten once this season by Braintree this will hopefully not be a problem on saturday week.

 

Braintree beat us 4-2 at New Lodge last season - after Carthy was controversially sent off with us 2-1 up. We have lost 3 in a row against Boretree now so hopefully it's time to exact some revenge.

If Chelmsford win their replay (at New Lodge on Wedsneday) they will then get to travel to Stalebuns.

At least I havn't been getting on other players back like some OR making snipes at our beloved chairman, like one person. Where were you when these people get going? Perhaps you have something personal to settle, hmmmmmmm?

 

And no, I don't think Calder and Borg were happy with the performance on Saturday judging by the swearing that was coming from the dug out.

And, very conveniently, the league have kindly arranged for our next two opponents to be playing this tuesday whilst we have a week off. Reckon there'll be a large scouting party at braintree tomorrow <img src="/forums/images/icons/cool.gif" alt="" />

I thought that swearing in the dugout happened in all games not just when we were not playing well!

 

With regards to Braintree in the cup does anyone else remember the classic FA Cup games we had with them a few years ago. The first two games were drawn with Braintree getting late late equalisers in both games. Before the second replay there was a big falling out which resulted in most of Braintree's first team walking out leaving us to play their reserves, of course we lost!

 

Still don't want to dwell on this, if we have the right attitude we should get through ok.

Remeber those games all to well. First game at New Lodge Micky Hall scored in the 85th minute before they equalised with virtually the last kick of the game (ref blew whistle straight at the kick off). At there place we go 2-1 up and they scored with 5 minutes remaining. Extra Time, go 3-2 up (Tolo Mas solo goal!) and they bloody even things up once again deep, deep into injury time, hows ya luck? The third game at New Lodge I think it was us who equalised with a late goal to go to Extra Time, which they cruised through. No repeats of those games please.
