Right so whats the deal

.. with refunds for last night. The announcer said to keep that tiny slip of paper which will allow us back in next time. Easy enough for home fans, but what about us who have to travel 80 miles to get there. What if im working on the rescheduled date?

What about other costs incurred, such as travelling costs and programmes, that were totally wasted as we didnt see a proper game of footy. Making away games is expensive enough as it is without this sort of thing. It is after all Folkestones responsibilty for us not getting a game.

I missed most of what Ian was saying to everyone last night so id appreciate being enlightened if anyone has any info.

I was standing next to Ian by chance when he spoke to us. Obviously keep your ticket in a very safe place, and I suggested hanging on to your programme as further proof you were there, should you have already thrown the tiny little yellow thing away. I have stapled mine to each other just to be extra careful... Like a few of us, I may well not be able to travel to the re-arranged fixture and in that case Ian's exact words were that the club "will negotiate with Folkestone on our behalf" regarding any refunds due. I would very much doubt personally that FIFC would fork out for our travel expenses and programmes, or unecessary food and beer consumed !!

And while the frustration felt was very understandable at the abandonment, particularly with the distance travelled and the poor weather endured, I felt we could have handled ourselves as supporters with a little more patience and understanding of the home club's predicament. How would we feel if our lights had gone out unexpectedly at New Lodge and a couple of dozen Folkestone fans starting demanding their money back instantly while charging around slagging off BTFC to anyone in earshot ? Can you honestly imagine Mr Kent appearing out of the blue with little envelopes neatly prepared with ten pound notes inside for everyone before the players had even finished warming down? I can think of a few clubs' fans who might have reacted worse than us, but we didn't really cover ourselves in glory.

It was a very disappointing night though, but for both clubs, not just us.

Neil, an interesting problem, which we are very aware of at Braintree. For each of our home fixtures you will be handed a ticket at the turnstile. On this ticket is states:

BRAINTREE TOWN FC - Conditions of Sale

1. This ticket is valid for the date shown or the date to which the match is transferred in the event of a postponement. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to ascertain the date and kick-off time of any re-arranged match.

2. No cash refund in respect of this ticket will be entertained under any circumstances.

3. This ticket is only valid if presented complete and intact.

4. All tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of Braintree Town Football Club and the Football Association.

5. All tickets are issued subject to the distinct condition that no holder shall sell or transfer same for a greater price than appears on the face of the ticket.

For your comfort and safety, you are advised to take your

position in the ground no later than 30 minutes prior to kick-off.

We've had this checked out by the FA and they have agreed with our procedures. Perhaps Folkestone could learn from this?

Neil

I think the reason most of the Billericay fans were hacked off last night wasn't so much that the lights went out - these things do happen even if it a bit shoddy for their first game of the season - more the absence of any communication. The Folkestone officials seemed more interested in getting into the boardroom for a cuppa than actually explaining what the situation regarding the match was.

A muttered "hang on to your tickets for the next game" over the tannoy after most people had left the ground was all we got and it was left to our officials to tell us what the situation was. It's hardly surprising there was barely 220 home fans there last night if that's the way they treat supporters.

It's not an easy trip on a Monday evening and given that many of us had had to rearrange work etc, I think we deserved a little more respect than Folkestone showed us.

Right, rant over. Does anybody know if that game will count for Ricky's suspension?

So what we need for the next game there is a roll of that colour raffle tickets and a good position outside the ground, lets say £5 each?? Only joking.

What annoyed me the most was that the guy in the orange jacket ambled over to where the tannoy guy was but then spent 5 mins chatting to his mates telling them what was happening rather than just telling the tannoy guy so everyone could hear. Admittedly I'm sure they did their best and a refund on the night is a little unrealistic.

Still the burger was better than last years and we got to see the new away kit...

I think u r talking bollox Neil. It is ridiculous that people are expected to keep hold of a ticket the size of a postage stamp for what could be months. There was virtually nothing in the way of tannoy announcements and no Folkestone official wanted to or was available to assist in any way until pressed by supporters. It was not a disappointing night for both clubs, it was a disappointing night for Folkestone as they as a club have let everyone down, it was a pretty good night for us getting so many people there on a monday night in shocking weather.

ps surely they will have to pay the team's travelling expenses?

Its crap that i had to pay twenty quid to get down there which is a lot of money for someone out of work, and i got nothing out of it except 6 hours of my life wasted. I heard that a lot of Ricay fans managed to get refunds. I obviously left before that point. Would have been handy if they could have given me it then. If they were going to give rfunds, why didnt they announce it?

I'm sure they couldn't have helped their lights failing, but again, fair point, from what I've heard and read here since, they haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either!

well, yes it was a good turnout but surely not a good night for BTFC ??? The two bookings still count, Dobson still has to serve his suspension, we slip behind in fixtures already and a lot of time and money is wasted for everyone who went.
Think that willl cover it JL - remember though, I am a DJ, it is almost my job to talk "bollox" !!!
