Billericay 3 Yeading 1

Pretty dreadful first 40 minutes throughtout the team - lucky only to be the 1 goal down I thought. Lee Williams put us level with a well struck drive from the edge of the area to go in 1-1 at ht. Second half Yeading tired rapidly and we began to dominate, took the lead when their keeper dropped a clanger then Marky Graham (one of the few players to play well today I thought) wrapped up the win in injury time. Overall we won (and are £7500 better off) and perhaps we've got a bad performance out of our system. Heybridge drew 1-1 in their game so we've got a week off - next game Kingstonian away on Saturday.

A few Ryman premier teams have gone out:

Chesham

Hitchin

Maidenhead

Aylesbury

Enfield

Whilst Sutton v Heybridge has gone to a replay

at the end of the day we've got through to the third qualifying round of the biggest national cup competition in the world with a cool £7500 in the bank - without ever really coming out of second gear. credit yeading who came to our place and made us look as if we had one less player.

one last thing - could everyone get off the back of jamie wallace. he needs support not criticism. we're all entitled to our opinions but i believe true supporters don't jump on a players back after one or two poor games. he isn't the best player we have by a long-shot, but he gives it 100% in every game. how many strikers can we say have done that over the years???

come on u blues!!!

it was a woeful performance in the first half from town...jamie missed one in the first minute and that seemed to set the tone. he is not the worst player ever to wear a btfc shirt by a long chalk but i have to confess he has played poorly of late and needs a bit of a confidence boost. i tght yeading had a good shout for a penalty turned down when russell appeared to try and mount their forward in the box (ooh err) and they well deserved their lead. the three at the back system didnt work today as we were getting over run in midfield and too many players were playing badly. i was surprised we didnt go back to a back 4 and take off carthy altho in fairness any one of 6 or 7 cud have been taken off. we had a half shout for a pen turned down and then willo scored a good goal close to half time. we were lucky to go in at 1-1 .

think a few tea-cups thrown at the break and i thgt we played better in the second half. their keeper was good enough to drop the ball into the net for us and they started losing their discipline with a lot of bookings for dissent. think from that point on the result wasnt really in doubt and mark graham showed a touch of class with his goal at the end,

overall tho the scoreline flattered us and we have to make sure we maintain the same level of our play regardless of the alleged quality or lack of it from the opposition.

i hope jj will be fit for saturday as he seemed to be struggling near the end and does anyone know what happened to essandoh..?

we need better on saturday...cmon the blues!!!!

Was not impressed with the first half and would agree we were lucky with the 1-1 at half time.

Second half we were much better (just goes to show what a stress from Mr. Borg, at half time does) but were given a gift by their goalie (anyone buy him a pint after the match?).

Yep, the scoreline flattered us and we do have to do better.

I would agree with the comments made in Jamie's defence. The guy looks as if he is lacking in confidence and from my vantage point on Saturday, the guys on the bench were doing right by the lads by encouraging him. Shame some supporters can't do the same. He ain't a bad player, just needs a goal or two and he'll be a hero (such is the fickleness of some).

think on sat it was a case of playing a system that encourages the oppo to attack. why are we using a sweeper system against a side in the bottom half a legue below us? if its not broken dont fix it! why are the management tinkering with the formation when it has worked so well up to now?

dont think you can say the players were not up for it. the expressions on their faces when we got the equaliser was not one that suggested they were not up for it. think it was a case that we played a system we are not used to against a team that had nothing to lose. You cant tell me that the players were not up for the qualifier of the fa cup!

I agree in the first half no-one appeared to know who was to cover the left winger with no right back playing. Mark Graham was therefore spending most of the half defending (not his strong point!) and most of the attacks including the goal and penalty shout game through their left.

I guess we continued with the sweeper as it seemed to work ok against Purfleet. Having said that though Purfleet had not scored for 331 minutes (according to their programme) prior to the game against us.
