My opinion is the ref DC needs to be pensioned off.

I thought the penalty was a bit dodgy to put it mildly.

 

But whilst the red card was difficult to argue with, I am very surprised that the two Purfleet players were allowed to remain on the field, and possibly the referee could have prevented it happening with a few quiet words in the events leading up to the incident. Jason Broom was very fortunate to escape in the second half, as was the other player involved.

Great report as usual, did I read it right, Purfleet introduced a player that WASN'T on the team sheet?

 

Is this allowed at capital league level?

Jason Broom was not on the teamsheet but this in itself does not matter providing it is included on the one given to the referee and to the oppsosition (HFC) - the handwritten teamsheet did not have his name on it, but that is not the official teamsheet.

 

However, given they had eight first team players, it appears that they may not have been too happy in losing the pre-season match.

A very good point indeed D04, and with hindsight I guess we could see this on the cards.

They now have cover all along the far side of the pitch, with seating (three rows of very dirty red seats) along the section from the half way point to the corner. I doubt very much that anyone will be too pleased if they have to sit there - they are in urgent need of a spring clean.

 

Plus points appear to be the refreshment hut at the far end, where I believe they serve bergers and rolls to gourmet standards. It proved to be very popular.

 

Admission (to the ground, not to the refreshement hut) was £3 and £1 for children.

 

Minus points were lack of a programme and lack of an announcer. With a counted crowd of only 34,(it might have been more, but one of them would not stand still), I would have thought an announcer was essential, if only to introduce the crowd to the players.

Thurrock's burgers are pretty amazing. Amongst the best in non league.

Yep they are rather good. The hot dogs are rather nice as well.
