You all seem to be the same as last season-"children lost in the wilderness".

As it happens the Thornes wanted the council to help with the financing of the club, and as no agreement could be reached, they proverbially took their ball home so we couldn't play.

Or if you are a tad cynical like me-then it was just a ploy to do away with the football club and build some jolly nice houses.Sadly the council as I understand it capitulated on the lease and sold it to the Thornes-and as any bright child knows " fattie prescott" is eventually going to give them permission to build on the site, green belt or not.My evidence for this asertion is to refer you all to the many illegal gypsy encampments that built facilities on green fields and " fattie prescott" let them get away with it.I hope this has help you all.

I think much of what Opti said is spot on- Yes we were expelled because we did not have enought seats (officially)

ARAAS:- They built a bus shelter like thing that did count as 'covered seats' but the conference said no way and kicked us out! Bless 'em. The irony is our 2nd promotion involved us finishing 2nd to Enfield who were not allowed to gain promotion due to ground conditions!

Marcus, Enfield weren't allowed up due to finances, nothing to do with their ground?

Also, I thought those bus shelter seats covered us for an early season, not the summer of 98? Thought we were still short on seats even with those included??

The bus shelter was fine - we simply had 49 seats too few. The seats were there we were just not allowed to bolt them to the ground.

In fairness to Alan Thorne, he was ill when all this went on, Byron had sole charge, and it was he who would not allow the council to add the extra seats, and it was he who decided not to send a representative of the club to appeal. There was a vote to see if we were allowed to stay up. Woking, Stevenage, And Farnbro voted for us to stay in, Telford abstained(it was they who would stay up in our place), and everyone else voted us out..........Northern teams.
