Things have to change

I have supported The Fleet since I was a boy in the early 1970's & would have to admit last night was not quite the worst display I've ever seen in 35 years, but only Halesowen & Egham would be worse. However on both those occasions the managers did not have anything like the budget that Liam Daish had at his disposal to bring in the players he wanted in the close season.

He's got the team he wants, but clearly it's nowhere near good enough at this level & tactically inept. We've lost our last 6 Conference games by 2 goals or more!!!!

Something has to change & that must be the manager himself.

The previous manager who spent loads was Stan Harland (didn't he come from the Portsmouth area too?) & he not only got us relegated out of the Conference but almost bankrupted the club. Be warned, Daish will do the same.

Last year on the 2nd Saturday of the season I went up to Morecambe & watched as The Fleet played one of the promotion favourites off the park. This season I am refusing to go to Canvey to watch our biggest rivals humiliate us.

In all those years (at home & plenty of away trips around the country) I have never done this before, but now I am not going to attend any games whilst Daish in in charge. I'm certain other fans will do the same until he is removed.

That had better be soon before classy players like

Andy Drury walk out!!!

Although not taking the action myself (I'll watch the Fleet whatever), I know several people who as regulars in the past, will not attend games until Daish has been replaced with a proper "conference manager" or at least someone from a lower level that is doing great things and is looking for a "promotion"

So, Board please understand that you can increase entrance fees to £12 (which was a totally disproportionate-inflation busting rise) but it won't increase your revenue if numbers of people don't attend.

In our previous season's in the Conference most people were content with the fact that we are not financially placed to get promoted but had become a steady Conference side and saw some good matches (hence a nice steady average attendance above 1,200)

OK so it was right to replace Fordy, he had run his time and run out of ideas to move the team forward..... but who in their right mind would have replaced him with a guy who had no managerial experience apart from a well publicised disaster down at Waterlooville !

I think that is a very good point. £12 admission fees will not increase the revenue of the club if people don't attend and therefore in the long run the club will struggle financially, especially being a full-time club.

If people don't agree with Daish as manager and his tactics on the pitch, then as Riverview Red said people would rather wait until a better quality manager with some experience takes over.

I understand your point but don'r neccessarily go along with it.

My opinion is that we all support GNFC so regardless of who is in charge and however poorly we are doing on the pitch, we should all still go and support the team.

If we lose heavy tomorrow (am praying that we don't), it will be interesting to see how many turn up for the Cambridge game.

Am guessing that they will bring a few as well.
