St Albans City 2 - Cambridge City 4

Well, what a disappointing finish. When we scored our second goal in the 87th minute to make it 2-3, I thought that we were in for an exciting finish. However, it was not to be - we just seemed to let them go ahead and score straight from KO. It was like we were playing a "take-it-in-turns" game. The strange thing was that Cambridge did it so easy - "We need to score a goal to ease the pressure" - bang, goal!

Defensively we were shocking - we've conceded 7 goals in two games now. In attack we looked better, and had plenty of chances. Simon Martin looked sharper last night, and I thought Tom Davies had a good game going forward. Their goalie made a couple of excellent saves - especially that one right towards the final whistle, plus their was a ball headed off the line by one of their defenders. At the end of the day, Cambridge City are a good side, so I suppose we can't be too disheartened. IF we can sort our defensive weaknesses out I reckon we'll have a good season. I expect a win on Saturday.

Can't agree mate. Zag has it dead right. The first half was very worrying but if the central defence is sorted out, as I'm sure it will be, things will go from strength to strength. Cambridge are a decent side who will easily finish in top 5 this term and for long periods in the second half, we had them on the rack. Clarke's goal was an absolute peach.

Pretty slim I would have thought; not entirely sure how these things work, but now Elphick is under contract at Brighton we would have to take him on loan and pay his not inconsiderable wages I would imagine. Still, if we can unload a certain striker who is warming the bench for XXX pounds a week who knows?

It wasn't that bad last night- great entertainment and agreed Cambridge are a good side BUT and a big but at that- the defence was woeful. Kavanagh didn't look up to it in the 1st half- I thought Seeby's defending was even worse and that Allman fella at RB made no impact whatsoever. For the record Ada looked quite good but needs solid support- I wander what this French bloke just signed can do.

Also the balance of the team wasn't right at all in the first half- we improved immensely when Roddis and Graham came on- particularly with Graham giving us that missing bit of width.

We will sort it out eventually- but I can't see it being sorted by Saturday- so another season playing catch up could be on the cards already.
