Gate 210

Town began tonight as they left off with Harlow on the back foot. Towns’ passing was crisper but defensively. The strikers were cutting through like a hot knife through butter. Within minutes Chopper was forced to make two more top quality saves. One was at point blank range and looked easier to score than anything. It was horrendous should have been 2 – 0 to the home side, finally third time lucky Lee Townrow beat Chopper 1 – 0. Gradually Town began to claw their way back into this game. Graeme Hall headed to the keeper, Brad Brotherton shot on target. Finally in the 40th Minute Graeme Hall headed home a goal 1 – 1. Fingernail by fingernail Town was clawing their way into this match and half time could not come soon enough. David Allen on for Jon Stevenson at the break, Rudi Hall tried a shot from about the half way line. Wignall fouled Howard and was booked for his troubles. A beautiful confidence building flick on by Brian Hammatt was missed by Matty Negus. Eventually in the 58th minute the pressure was rewarded with Kieran Woodward crossing for Richard Howard to head home. Town fans went wild with relief. Town were now on fire, in the 61st minute Richard Howard returned the favour for Kieran Woodward, however Westren decided to put it into his own net. 1 – 3. Rymer was booked. Mabvura did a two footed tackle on Brian Hammatt and received a straight red. Unfortunately Brian Hammatt also received a straight red for gently adjusting the collar of his shirt in reply. Chopper nearly missed a long catch. Lee Smith on for Richard Howard, Andrew Purcell on for Rudi Hall.

Our first three points! Yes and if we can sort out our defence they won’t be the last!

The defence is fairly easy to sort out. 50% of the best defence in the ESL last season were not even on the bench! In the first half we looked frightened to have a shot and seemed to want to walk it into the net. It wan't until Brad B had a bash that things started to improve. It's also a big shame that after just two league games we have had a sending off for retaliation! WE must learn from those mistakes last year. Still a far better performance in the second half so lets hope the improvement continues.

Nice to see officals keep control of a game instead of trying to regain control.

I will say the officials we have had so far have been ok.

You are not missing much back here! Shocking last night at the the "dust bowl" player gets butted and Ref talks to both players- no cards.

Shocking decisions! You are better off out of it chaps

Sadly not been able to get to any of the friendlies or the first two games (shocking what sort of supporter am I?)

Been a bit out of things for a while. So just had a quick catch up of the forums etc so just wanted to write a couple of things

First Huge Congratulations to the Boys for their first win. Hope it is one of many to come.

Congratulations to Chopper who is getting married at some stage in the season.

Was the Salmon who scored for Harlow, Marc Salmon who used to play at EFC in the Southbury road days ??

After the banter about the new away shirt how did it look ? I personally think that a new away kit is a good idea and from the piccy on the website quite like the red and black stripes.

Noticed also from piccies that Hopme shirt has changed slightly, was this cahnged for a reason or just a change for a new season in a new league?

Arkwright are these home shirts availiable yet ?

I see EFC won aswell so well done to them too, I hope we have 2 good games when we meet in the league.

Well hope to be back at Brimmo very soon

Oh yes in case anyone remembers me this is actually "Rodders" but could not remember my login details some months back so had to set up new login.

Cheers

Same Marc Salmon - Still a good player.

As if Arkwright wouldn't have had a large stock? IS the Pope not a catholic?

Be nice if we could kit the coaching team out in red or black though Arkwright they looked like the other bench last night (in Blue).

Welcome back Rodders I remember you and glad to see you are again. We have quite a few old supporters returning to the fold it is wonderful to see. You are VERY welcome (all of you). <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chat.gif" alt="" />

Of course they're available!. We had to change the home kit as the old ones were becomming ex-stock & we were unable to get them in the numbers we needed.
To answer you Softie, the management have all been kitted out in Black Polo's & therefore should have worn them last night!.
