I see from the Highways Agency, that Hartsdown Road is closed for one month from 1st September!

I am waiting to find out if all the road is closed all the time during that period. (the work is for Footway repairs, so it may not be)

looking forward to Saturday

Ian

Highways never cease to amaze me. They pave roads when its likely to be at its most busy (tarmacing Ramsgate Road the day before Westwood Cross opens) as well as making impromptu traffic light maintenance works without having anybody at the Victoria junction to direct traffic. 4 lanes of traffic going in all directions. Insanity!

Surely,as an employees husband, between yourselves Ian, could you not find out from the council on our behalves. Surely that question should be directed to the highways division at Thanet council. If you DO get anymore information please forward it to us fans. Am sure we would be grateful for your efforts in doing so and acquiring the details of such, also.

Could this, would this, be in reference to an appeal for for the pathway betwen the club and tivoli park to be repaired in time for the start of the season as away support will be using this pathway this year on a regular basis. As it is,it is fast falling into the catagory of "dangerous" to walk on. If so then why the need to close Hartsdown road altogether? If not in connection with this then those details I ask for would I'm sure be thankfully recieved.

Cookie, That accident was years ago. You may remember a coach going into a van. A young woman occupant of that van was killed. It took place at that junction by the church

The detailed plans for the stadium show that Margate FC are required to upgrade this path as a part of the development, i.e. widening, resurfacing and improved lighting.

I think I know the problem there anon. The plans I think you are looking at are the demolition of stadium and replacement with a 6000 one from 2003. Those plans were never made a reality due to the Stadia Management problem. The plans which were approved in April and were finished Saturday gone were the 2005 re-instatement of ground plans.

It doesnt help that there are no less than 3 different plans to look at. But I think thats the problem. The 2005 plans are the ones to follow, which dont include parking on the Tivoli Park side of HDP.

If Im wrong, someone please correct me.

The full plans though do include parking, work for which is said to be started before the end of this year. They are the ones we all talked about recently in a previous thread, the ones including a hotel and ten 5-a-side pitches.

Actually they weren't, I was looking at the most recently amended version on ukplanning (27 May 2005) which can be seen at ukplanning.com website

By 'detailed plans' I meant the full development i.e. permanent stadium, hotel etc. The new path appears to be a part of these plans, between the development and the new car park in Tivoli Park.

bluesfan, yes I am that James Maskell.

Anon, I understand what you mean now. The parking as laid out on those plans refer only to the permanent stadium, not to the stadium just finished. Anybody who wants to park will have to park on Hartsdown Road and the nearby area, at least until the permanent stadium is finished.

I believe these plans were changed at the councils request. The difference being that the current hartsdown rd end would remain for the next 3 years (approx)because the medical centre was abandoned, highways wanted traffic lights with further expense to mfc. The 5 a side pitches will go on the old nursery sight marked as orchard on plans. The rest is the same as on the plans. JK you may be able to put me right if im incorrect but thats what ive been told!
