Optimistic ahead of kick-off

I find it depressing to see so many despondant posts on the forum under headings such as "CONCERNED" or "A bit worried..". Despite all the positive news of late we do seem to have a number of fans who are always looking for the negative - truly some glass half empty folk. I spoke (very briefly) with CK on Saturday at the photo session at HDP and he seemed very upbeat about the prospects for the new season ahead of the PSF. He said that contracts would be made with many of the triallists after the game and that he looked forward to a full and promising squad. I feel quite confident that we will get more info by the end of the week and am hugely optimistic of a great day next Saturday. Come on all you doom mongers - we've only just got the money stuff resolved, trust CK to sort out the team for us and start to BELIEVE! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Agree MD but I think the title of that topic header was misleading in away. Maybe a better title would have been better used. However the content of the discussion didnt seem all doom & gloom to me and as you say things will probably be sorted now since the friendlies have now evaporated. I too share your enthusiasm and confidence that the core of the squad if not all of it will be made available to us this week.

I'm optimistic that CK will build a side good enough to win the league and get the club going in the right direction again. He's a good steady pair of hands and Charlie Mitten is not going to let in to many goals at the back.

Personally hope that the club will focus on bringing through local talent.

I would expect at least a top 6 finish. There are some strong teams in the league but CK is probably the most experienced of the managers. It will be interesting to see how Wimbledon go as they have had it pretty much their own way so far. I also think the supporters have a big part to play. We potentially have one of the biggest fanbases in the league.

Out of interest Paul Kitson is currently training with Aldershot. Apparently, as the rumour goes, he is not even being paid as he just wants to play football. He is currently out injured, but would be a great signing for us don't you think?
