The definition is VERY wide when refering to it as a stadium. It was meant as a respectful way of putting it. But in all honesty its pretty bad. Those terraces arent particularly level, dont have the safety lines and the parking spaces...

Out of curiosioty - perhaps FF could enlighten me - what work was done to the ground recently to improve it? I may not have been to Southwood before but if this is better than it used to be last season, Im a little concerned at the standards required! Perhaps my standards were too high having come direct from HDP.

They havent got their new lights up yet,not until Wednesday it seems and then they will have to have an inspection. Cant see their reason for leaving things as late as this. Am sure however that they too will get things up to scratch in time for the kick-off on Saturday. Their stadium/ground was looking really bad I must admit & I cant see any supposed improvements whatsoever except a wall erection and some improved turnstyles though going in and out with the same entrance ticket could lead to a loss of revenue unless they clamp down on that. I was however impressed with the uniformaty of the tea-ladies as it looked smart, so I hope our servers have taken something from that at least.

Maybe not so much on the football side of things on todays performance but come the end of the season am positive that the GATE will be seen to be a league better than the RAMS and indeed this applies already to the stadium. Our new temporary stadium is in a different league to that of Southwood already. Still it IS a league lower and I suppose they have done their best.

Agree James about the lines. I thought that was a definate starter for ALL leagues. Surely health & safety applies to EVERYONE.

Will tell Sarah Zoe etc about your compliments toards them. The pitch perimiter fancing has ben improved. The wooden fence which is currently only goes 1/5 of the distance of the ground it too be complete an we will then have a 4 sided ground. Their are talks off an astro turf being built. An the changing rooms being moved over. Which are in the interveiws from Lawson which can be heard on the archive. I think car parking needs to be improved greatly. As far as flood lights go new ones will be arrected November time if all goes well

Anonymous, no one here is denying the result. We are just pointing out some serious points about the ground. I dont think us Margate fans would be insulted if Ramsgate for example came to HDP and had genuine points to make about the ground. In fact I think we would welcome them.

Cheers for the info FF. Best of luck getting the ground sorted.

Oh no we wouldn't! Oh, and I think you need to attend more than one game before you can really describe yourself as a fan of a club.

I am gracious in defeat and we didnt deserve the victory over 90 minutes but there are other aspects concerning the game and the stadium that I feel were worth mentioning. Take criticism with grace annon!

FF! they have a very nice playing surface and the clubhouse is quite good, and the staff and supporters are very friendly and welcoming.

Oh, and they serve chips, wish you did at Southwood, although I enjoyed the burger. I thought the open air bar-b-q was a cracking idea though.

They are no better than you with the parking facilities - very limited, but all in all it's a nice little ground.

Yours will be much better when you can walk all the way around, as at the moment when the fans change ends they block the view of the folks in the stands.
