Town opened positively in the first minutes with a shot from Dean Green. This was followed by a shot from Johnny Morgan low just missing the post. Jackson had to be at his very best to tip a lob from Johnny Morgan just over his bar. Graeme Hall headed a corner just over the bar. On 11 minutes Russell Penn got the by-line and cut the ball back for Jon Stevenson to hit with venom through a mêlée of players to hit the back of the net. All going towns way at this point and couldn’t be better so we thought. Yes it could be better this blessed rain had set in.

Harlow now finding themselves behind went on the attack and a great reflex save from Chopper saved the day. Paul Campbell headed off the line. In the 23rd minute Chopper was finally beaten after a short corner to Zoricich who nailed it 1 – 1. Kiaran Wooodward did well to read a corner and clear a ball. End of first half Town looked OK but under pressure.

Second-half Riley on for Penn after an injury. Harlow were looking for the winner and hit the post with ball bouncing kindly into Choppers arms. Town were reduced to long range shots with Rudi hitting one from far out. On 57 minutes Harlow finally got their reward from another well rehearsed short corner with Marc Salmon just flicking on 1 - 2 scoring the winner.

A Rudi Hall free-kick rebounded to Dean Green whose shot was saved. David Allen was on for Negus; Bryan Hammatt on for Dean Green Paul Campbell did a late tackle and was in grave danger of getting a second yellow card. Jon Stevenson also had the best chance of the second half and was unlucky from the corner.

We looked ok in the first half but in the second we were well beaten. We were punished for our inexperience at this level of football, Harlow deserved their points. They came many times pre-season, they watched and they worked out how to conquer. We’ll learn from this and things will change hopefully for the better.

Referee was excellent.

Experience proved decisive today, and full credit to Harlow Town on a professional and strong peformance. Whilst Enfield Town didn't play badly - far from it - we seemed to lack the finishing touch. Far too many crosses went straight to the keeper.

All in all, like Softie said, we will learn from this and start getting used to the level of football. We will have a good season, but that depends on your own personal opinion of what a good season entails.

Excellent referee and assistants today, hope the rest are like it.

Evening all.

The main difference this afternoon was that we were clinical and took our chances.

You had a good start but from the moment you scored your goal, I believe our keeper was only tested once, the rest being easy catches.

We seemed content to give you time on the ball in the middle of the pitch, but closed you down well around the box when you got too close, limiting you to long range efforts.

We did get the ball over the line in the disputed "goal" but the linesman was far from the play and couldn't be sure and therefore, couldn't give the goal. The right decision under the rules but we weren't happy about it at the time!

On that performance, you'll need to improve if you're to challenge for a playoff place. We face league favourites Stamford at home on Wednesday and it'll be interesting to see if they can live up to the billing.

Good luck against Wivenhoe.

On this performance the current ETFC team is certainly stronger than that which won the ESL, but there's no way we're going to walk this league. Harlow weren't inspirational. But take nothing away from them - they were solid and organised. At times we looked anything but organised with ETFC players getting in each others way and too many passes going astray. I think John Stevenson and John Morgan came out of this performance with some credit. Richard Howard didn't convince me, but again its early days.

Anyway, its not all doom and gloom yet, but let's hope Jim learns something from today.

I don't think you are giving your keeper enough credit. The reason he didn't look as though he was tested much was because his positional play was excellent.

I felt we looked very fragile at the back and Geordie was caught out on a number of occassions. Didn't see the first two goals as was flogging 50-50 tickets but I understand that they were both very good.

It's our first league game at step 4 and it will take time to adapt especially with the new players but I am sure things will improve.
