I think Ramsgate were a good choice for a friendly. Pre-season games can be a bit too laid back. Next Saturday will be helter-skelter stuff, so it was important to see which of the trialists would cope best with 'in your face' opponents. Hopefully this is the kick up the backside we need.

Not there to get depressed today ,and so not overly worried by the result.

Having said that, the team seems about the strongest we have to me; and from the two psf i've seen, seems a decent side ,esp. in midfield;

Can any one give any more details on Popovich-was'nt he briefly at Gravesend last year.

If nothing else, one post says at least he knows how to head a ball.

Thinking a bit more, i reckon that team will do ok in Ryman, so i'm feeling fairly optimistic.

Just a shame there are not 2 more games for the side to blend together in.

Has Hasim Dean signed-hopefully not too badly injured.

I thought he had visited Gravesend briefly too MM. That must be correct then. I thought he was extremely good at the back,as was NO: 4,colu or something I think his name is. No :6 impressed too. All three did very well in the air though sad that Popovich had to go off with a cut over his eye. I think there were some knocks to some of them today so lets hope they heal before next week. In the first half I thought we dealt with any attacking ariel force that they threw at us,with comfort. Our downfall today at the back were mistakes on the ground and they will,I'm sure get sorted out.

There were quite a few changes in the squad from the Burgess Hill game. Aaron, Moses and Leon were absent. The substitutes who did not play were Peter Egan, Denver Birmingham and Adam Burke(I think he played the last fifteen minutes at Burgess Hill in midfield). There were also two other trialists who were not named.

I understand that according to the Ryman League rules a club has to have eleven players signed seven days prior to the start of the season.

I think most people whether optimists or pessimists who watched the game today would agree that there is much improvement needed before we say confidently that we have a good team.

When ever i come across things like that on the interney i save them becauase you never know when they may come in handy.Just looking at it i wonder what the gradient of the slop on HP was because rule 1.8B states

The maximum slope allowable shall not exceed an even gradient of vertical to horizontal 1 : 41 in any direction.

That was not a dig just a thought

With whatever league we were in and with whatever the slope, we played every year and therefore the regulations must have been adhered to else we would not have played in those leagues continually throughout those years.

Im sure he DID want it.Always nice to take home some silverware.However that wasnt the MAIN issue as we all know.If we have learnt and got something from the game then it will have been a worthwhile day. Having said that we really do need a good performance now, especially for this "big" start on saturday.This is when it really counts.If lessons have been learnt from saturday then we will see the reults of them this saturday.We HAVE have to perform in front of a big crowd and judging by the teams performances in latter years(I know we have a new set of players)away with big crowds then we should be able to silence a few critics this week-end. Lets hope so!
