Presume that means we lost.....

 

Still a huge day next week whatever happened today. We have to be realistic though - consolidate this season, build some support and momentum back in the area and then look to progress again.

 

If I had to make a prediction, I would say we will be about 8th to 10th in the league come May. And I would be happy with that, although obviously any better would be a bonus. Above all we need stability and a club with a home and an identity again.

 

As for the Rams, good kuck to them, especially mark Munday who gave us such good service.

Congratulations, you beat Margate today. I dont think it was because Ramsgate were playing that well. If anything it was because Margate simply didnt play that well.

I can make it out (just). I had a good time.

 

There were some moments where it really looked like Margate were up for it, but sadly they were moments in the first half and they were stopped at the end or the finish not quite made.

 

In the second half it just didnt look like Margate had the heart for it.

Starting team was:

 

Mitten,

Keister,

Oates, Popovich, Kola, Green,

Gradley, Heero, Dean,

Watson, Whitehead

 

Subs I think Edwards for Popovich, Standen for Dean, Sacha for Pat, Hillaire for Whitehead.

Played better in the first half, but Dean got a dead leg and we sort of lost our shape after that, he played quite well. Heero played well, Popovich is a big lad and looks a bit like Oates at times, quite good with his head, Sacha and Standen both looked reasonable for the short time they were on. Defence seems to have lost the structure that we saw in the first pre-seasons, and we had again nothing much to threaten up front. Some individual good moves, but no coherence as a unit (team) and that level of understanding needs to come through pretty quick or we will spend the first part of the season being this disappointed.

Perhaps this may gee the team up for next saturday. We have been unbeaten, although not convincingly, in the PSF and so this should get our feet back on the ground. Apart from that I've never been in favour of playing Ramsgate in PSF as they always appear to want to get one over on us. A few seasons ago I remember them kicking the players off the park in a so called friendly. Also at this stage players don't want to pick up injuries and so the commitment in tackles isn't always there. I was't there today so I can't really comment on what happened but those are my views. Is there any news on who the team was today and who might have signed. I don't think that its correct that we have to have our team in by tonight. Aldershot signed 3 players yesterday.

My opinion is that the first half was a pretty close run thing with the gate doing all the nice work in the football sense. Ramsgate weren't really in the game, however both teams had a couple of chances a piece but failed to convert any of them.

Second half the Rams really came out buzzing and then we lost Popovic with a cut eye and there after we really were bad. As the game went on we seemed to get worse by the minute and you could see that the young youthful Rams were up for the game much more than their counterparts. We did rally slightly near the end but there was no finishing kick there and we went under to a positive and enthusiastic Ramsgate side.

No complaints with the scoreline as they really did deserve it. They took their chances in the second half where as we didnt when we did actually get a sniff of goal. We did knock the ball around and it looked pretty at times but the OOMPH up front was missing.

Crowd not as large as I thought it would be, however a good attendance from the Gate fans who definately outnumbered i.m.o the opposition fans.

We do have things to sort out but there were some encouraging displays from players I had only seen the one time.

I shouldnt be too critical as we still do not know what the main eleven will be but despite the result we have a few players that have done well today and with the added addition of absentee Leon Braithewaite up front and a couple of midfield/forwards we will improve on this performance no-end, I am sure.

Once again we make opposition look better than they really are and by no means was I impressed with the Ramsgate side,and thats an honest opinion.

On the day however they scored whereas we didnt and they wanted it whereas we didnt,especially in the second half.

We will improve but I cant see much more coming from the Ramsgate locker.

Well played on the day Ramsgate, as on the day you deserved it.
