Usual back page on us, but no report on the Charlton game, which isnt very good.

 

Also, splashed across the front page, it says"Free guide to new footie season". Stupidly, I thought thiswould relate purely to ourselves and Charlton. But, no, its only Premiership info - 20 pagesof Charlton, West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs.

 

Why West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs for a start? ok, they are London Premiership teams, but not Kent teams, so why cover them in a Kentish Times paper.

 

I hope this isnt a sign of things to come.

What else do you expect from the Reporter?

 

The newspaper has got worse and worse over recent years, not just in the way that it reports sport in the Gravesend area, but in its news reporting as well.

 

The News Shopper is probably a better read than the Reporter at the moment, but really its no better in terms of its coverage area.

The paper does not represent the town and has not for years, one of the reasons i stopped buying it years ago.

I would imagine the coverage of those London teams is for the many London people that live in the area now.

The coverage of the Fleet in the Reporter has been hugely improved over the last three seasons both in volume and content.
Ten years ago we would have been lucky to get half a page during the season and nothing at all in the summer.
Given what happened with the sponsorship I think the Reporter have been bloody good to us.

My comments were general remarks about the Reporter. At 35p. I believe it is more expensive than its main competitor and does not in anyway represent value for money.
