Maidenhead United 1-3 Slough Town

Goals from Josias Carbon, Ian Hodges and Matt Seedel saw the Rebels defeat a Maidenhead United side, made up of mainly trialists 3-1 at York Road.

Slough took the lead through a Carbon header before a rare Steve Daly mistake gave Maidenhead an equaliser. Hodges put Slough back ahead as the Rebels dominated the remainder of the match.

Matt Seedel added a third early on in the second-half and could have added more.

Yes it was a Maidenhead side made up of trilaists, but you can only beat what's in front of you - and we did that well.

Michael Alexis - a former Aldershot, Burton Albion, Forest Green Rovers and Oxford United midfielder made his second appearance in pre-season and impressed again, as did defender Mark Avery from Thame United, who was their Players Player of the year two seasons ago (as Saulsbury was when he joined us!)

Mets and Shep missed the game with niggily injuries. Wilko made his comeback. Leigh Mason (injured) and Glen Harris (at Student games) also missed the match.

Played well - left side still worries me though...

Lovegrove went unnoticed by me for the entire 90 minutes! Avery played alongside Steve Daly at the centre of defence and did ok without being spectacular.

I thought Alexis and Tyrone Daly were very good, especially the former whose movement and crossing were excellent. I also saw signs for the last 15 minutes, after a few substitutions were made and players moved around, that Josias could be the next Wilko. Wilko himself, as ever, was quite brilliant and adds so much to our team.

A very good performance all round although more than once in pre-season we've given away goals by trying to play too much football in front of our own goal.

I doubt Maidenhead will be signing many of those trialists because they were awful. We played well and controlled the game very rarely looking troubled.

I thought Alexis played well and Ballard looked very useful in midfield. Ty Daly had good moments but I am not sure that he is the player to solve the left sided problem. Long break before the first competitive fixture now so plenty of time for Eddie to bring in a few new players if necessary.

I was very impressed by Avery who kept everything simple and didn't make any mistakes. Ballard contiunes to look a great find and in my opinion looked even better in midfield. He has got one hell of an engine on him and it is clear from these friendlies that he is a player who gives 100 per cent - unlike a few former players I could mention such as Spencer or Hakki

J was the one who impressed me yesterday...in true Carbon fashion he was absolutely everywhere and was for me the key player on the pitch yesterday... will also agree that josh white and andy ballard looked great...

Very satisfying to see us beat Maidenhead esp with dennis in that pink shirt!
