Cheers for the update. Any sort of match report or info? Players? Anything important happen?

Im still concerned that Margate only scored one goal. Nothing against the team because thats more goals then I can score but all the same the team havent scored more than one goal a game durng this pre-season.

Great to see Leon played and scored. Let's hope CK gets him signed up to bolster our limited striker options. How many players have been officially signed up by the club - I can only think of Mitten, Oates, Gradley, Keister, Edwards and the new 'kola' kid. We seem to be leaving it to the very last minute which cannot be good for the players' morale.

It will be good for those that get signed and as for those that dont it wont matter. Sounds harsh I know but morale shouldnt come into it.They are all getting their chance and as long as that chance for them to shine is still there they will be doing their utmost to impress therefore there really shouldnt be any lack in the morale department.

Sad i missed the game tonight, but i didnt want to go all that way and find out that a game wasnt on...after all - the game wasnt even on the official Margate website! Anyway, glad to hear that Leon played and scored - may i ask Cookie, how do you know that information about the game?

I dont think the problem is the number of players signed to deals. We can have them non contract but then of course they can leave when they want. But then why would they want to? There are spots in the team for non contract players to fight for.

A lot of the players are trialists or those brought through from reserves, and may well not want the trouble of moving to another team.

In any case thats 6 players signed up. A "core" of a team around which CK can build a team.

Tonights team:

Mitten,

Oates ,Edwards Keister, Cola, Green

Heeroo, Gradley,, Hasim Dean

Leon Braithwaite Whiteman

23 players in margate kit there in total.

1st half sub-Barnett for JK after he broke someones nose and CK was encouraged to request he was removed from proceedings-in fact it was not a bad challenge and JK unlucky

2nd half subs Watson for braithwaite

Daniel Sasch for Cola

No18 don't know who that was ,but a midfielder with a decent left foot on for 10 mins.

others on parade but did not get on:Moses,Standen(i think),Egan,Nnumumbi(i think)plus loads of others not known to me.

The good bits:

Hasim Dean was very very good and mom-holding midfield player who took pressure off defence and went forward at corners.

Heero-pretty good.

It looks like there is a bit of a midfield forming and would be more than hapy with Gradley, Hasim, Heero and Standen ,plus in short periods both Sasha and no 18 looked ok in midfield.

Oates and green look fairly fit.

The bad bits:

defence looked poor and slow esp after JK went off.Conceded from a corner where lost ball in air again.Unfortunately though a strong player Cola does not add height or pace(shouts alot though and think there is a competition between back 5 to see who can shout the most-at least they care !!).

Dont like Oates and Green taking corners on opposite sides of pitch to their natural positions-can see us conceding plenty on quick breakaways.

Burgess Hill had a young new side and we did not really impress and their youthful attack ran the defence ragged on ground and in air in second half.

Still desperately need a tall defender-think we lost nearly everything in the air.

Attack a bit non existent-(don't get too excited about Leon)- even when DW came on; but that will right itself and get better with what begins to look a promising midfield.

1-0 to BHill .-back to the useless in the air scenarios and CM was then a bit half hearted at second attempt to clear.Margate marginally better side in first half.

Close to end of half Leon converted a good through ball,to make it 1-1 and then Margate should have had a penalty

Second half, BH dominated.

Nothing else to say about a pretty poor game.More important was performance which was average ,again excepting the most excellent Hasim and Heeeroooo

Thanks MM for that.Looks like some players are starting to shine but the style of play and old problems at the back have not yet been rectified. Still, a game to go, and then maybe a settled 11 will show that improvement.

Thing is of course, we don't know who CK will want to sign or indeed which players may get opportunities elsewhere, but to me Hasim Dean and heeroo look like 'must haves'-otherwise we could be in a spot of bother

other thing i would add last night ,is that CK obviously likes Green and Oates to press forward;but this was inseffective last night as BH were quite well drilled and playesd wide in midfield, therefore Oates and Green could not get forward-they were well covered and that seriously limited our attacking options as there were no attacks from Gate down the flanks because of this.

Basically depite good performances from Heroo and Hasim, the BH 4 man midfield dominated the 3 man plus greg and green-3/5 man-Margate midfield especially in second half;and we looked increasingly average.
