"The fact that he hasnt seen any games yet is irrelevant and yes,he CAN know about a player and his skills even though he hasnt actually seen him play in person."

How?

"I've never seen leroy lita play in person but i still know about the player and his skills."

Not in-depth you don't. As for James, do you not think it is odd to post 400-odd times about a club you've never seen?

Not in-depth your right but James didn't say he'd seen Rocky play in-depth.

James has seen that Rocky scored a few goals for us last season so he rightly stated that it wouldn't be a bad thing if he was to re-sign for us.

It does seem abit odd posting 400 times about a club that he's never seen yes, but it's a free country and he can do what he likes.

Anyone who want's to be a Margate fan and take an interest in the club is fine by me.

Yes, it is a free country (just about). Equally, I can express my irritation with people on this forum (as you can do with me).

As for Rocky, anyone who didn't see us last season - and that won't just include James, many people will come out of the woodwork once we are back at Hartsdown - won't have seen the many games in which he was totally ineffective. Oh, and don't forget he was reputedly on a very good wage.

It seems that those of us who did watch Rocky on several/many occasions last season can have vastly different opinions on his value to MFC, so not sure that qualifies as providing any better ability to judge. If the club were to believe that they can afford him then I would trust their judgement and certainly can't say that I've seen or heard of any better alternatives. Just my opinion of course!

We'll just have to wait and see what happen's, like you say im not sure Margate would want to pay the wages he's asking.

Che was a much bigger loss IMO

The away match at Hornchurch was a classic example - missed an absolute sitter, then did a ridiculous backpass that lead to a penalty, our keeper's sending off and the only goal of the game (in that order) - he cost us 3 points that day and showed his commitment to the team by walking off to the changing rooms when substituted soon after.

I would prefer to see a promising youngster give 110% at a tenth of the wages - rather than an overpaid prima donna who thought he was above it all last year - it can't have done us any worse favours than getting relegated, could it?

James - I'm afraid his 14 goals does not tell the full story.

Leon as a replacement is a good start and I hear he scored last night. I don't see why we should settle for someone who did not show enough commitment (in my opinion) on the pitch last year - CK has a proven track record in unearthing gems, let's have faith in him doing it again.

Well he had to get his full money's worth

And he didn't have the funds / resources to change things round last season. After today's news, he does now

I think Rocky for another season would not show us anything different from last season, like the man said... "Goals don't tell the full story".

I'm sure I wasn't the only 1 to notice some severe ball hogging from Rocky while Che ran round like a blue !****] fly getting into open position to no avail, Watson doing a grand job & can pass the ball around in the box to optimize chances. If anything we need a partner for Watson who can contribute the same Va-Va-Voom as he does.

People have short memories and forget that we were flirting with relegation in that last Conference season until Rocky came in and perked things up. They also forget that Che was not finding the net at all until Rocky became his strike partner. They also remember the one occasion he screwed up without contemplating that other players also screwed up on other occasions (sometimes more than once) but without being on the receiving end of the amount of vitriol that guy has had to put up with.

I think people also forget the skill he has displayed on numerous occasions, his abilities on the ball when he can hold it up whilst the rest of the team scamble to get forward, and they forget his experience playing at a higher level that we at the moment aspire to. He has a star quality that is very attractive to some people, myself included, and I for one think the football we will be watching this year will be the poorer for loss of him.

He also does not drop out injured at the slightest bump, and has a proven track record of stamina and fitness that would shame some younger players.

Last but not least, I do not think it will be very long into the season before some of his detractors are not wishing he was still here.

"we were flirting with relegation in that last Conference season until Rocky came in and perked things up"

We would have stayed up comfortably anyway.

"They also forget that Che was not finding the net at all until Rocky became his strike partner."

I think dropping down a division had more impact on Che improving his strike rate. He has never been, and never will be, a Conference National-standard player.

"They also remember the one occasion he screwed up without contemplating that other players also screwed up on other occasions (sometimes more than once) but without being on the receiving end of the amount of vitriol that guy has had to put up with."

One occasion. You mean Hornchurch? What about the appalling missed header in the final minute at St Albans? Or those two missed chances against Welling at Homelands? Other players f**ked up too, but I think most fans recognised that they were just not good enough (e.g. Trego) and no amount of yelling would make them any better. Whereas Rocky had played at Conference level. I've never questioned his natural ability, but he has never made the most of it. This is non-league football, it is not about being airy-fairy and 'artistic', you've got to get stuck in.

"The amount of vitriol". Yeah right, some grumbles on an Internet message board. And he had to endure the red-hot cauldron of hate that was Homelands last season! Ooh, scary!

"I do not think it will be very long into the season before some of his detractors are not wishing he was still here."

I very much doubt it. With the wages he was on we can have two decent players to replace him.
