Fixtures & Fishing

Does anyone know if the club are getting fixture posters done this year for us to distribute throughout Thanet, or Margate and surrounds at least & to various outlets such as newsagents butchers, etc. In fact any business, to display on our behalf, not to mention all the private address windows.

One thing missing from yesterdays hand-outs were these fixtures for the season. I had thought that this was in hand but it didnt turn out to be.

Some of us were getting asked all the time on the parade yesterday by both old and new supporters wanting to know when the first match was.

A poster showing the next 3 games at Hartsdown, as was in previous years, should be sorted.

Any-one know if this is in hand and if not what can we all do to try and get this sorted.

Just because those out there now know that we are back we shouldnt relax and leave it at that. They should be "hooked" by us with the continual reminder of when the games are being played on a regular basis so as to keep those crowds both interested and in attendance at games.

Would like to hear your comments on this and if this is or not in hand.

Perhaps the webmaster on the official website could do a downloadable A4 poster that people could print off their pc? I have mentioned it before, but a lot of clubs do it. I am sure I have seen one on the Folkestone Invicta website. We could then get some displayed in local shops, pubs, even windows of private houses etc.

Those of us with printers I am sure could oblige those without by printing a few extra.

Yes please Blueblood. As I am there tomorrow I'll see you, and maybe I too will blow in his ear. The more we blow the more chance we have of lift off. After all this should really be down to the club.

I think June's idea is a good one, however, personally speaking my knowledge of computers is very limited and if I had a better understanding of them I would set something up,but I havent. No printer either.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of computers can come up with something on the lines that June mentioned just in case the club havent got this covered. It is in their best interests to do so i.m.o.

Speculate to accumalate an'all that. This surely must be done.

As I walked round little Faversham the other day I could see their fixtures advertised everywhere so if they can do it then so should we be able to.

Am sure we could all do the distributing to

our own parts of the island, dont you think?

We really need one out NOW even if only to cover the first game. KP is looking for 1000 punters plus on this game and with a poster to inform the people of this game(to start with),out NOW, that figure could well be met if not exceeded.

This one would need doing NOW and distributed NOW!

The positive "knock-on" effect from this could be of great value to our club.

This is not meant to be pessimistic, but not sure if KP's is a wish or a realistic suggestion; but seems very very optimistic to me.

Despite everything, we are in the RYman ,not conference national.

I think there is a chance of 580.

Like a few i should think, i'll be one of the exiles making the long trip to HDP to see first home game and the much apreciated hard work put in by the more local supporters

If we get a good start, that could rise to 600-700 for september when people back from holidays, and then fall to a steady 400-500imo.

I so hope to be wrong and KP correct, but think a reality check is called for .

However, as the post started off, some simple poster advertising would assist and be cost effective.

Agree to some extent MM but again the advertising of the FIRST game in particular could well meet that figure. Maybe a fall off in figures for a short while after that but with some good football on the field and some good results, plus more advertising this FIRST match gate COULD be reached on a more consistent level.

My two cents is that the numbers will inevitably be highest in the Maldon Town game and perhaps the AFC Wimbledon game due to away fans but otherwise the numbers will be lower. The important thing is making sure the publicity keeps coming.

One idea is to write letters for the papers, saying thank you to everybody who came to the carnival for giving us such a fantastic reception. It works. Ive had letters printed which have definitely got a reaction. If MFC has a good start to the season MISA can send as letter into the press calling for fans to come to Margate to cheer them on.

I also know somebody who has a website just about Thanet, who would gladly print something about MFC.

Up the Gate!

James, I don't mean to put a dampner on things but the interest in our first game back at Hartsdown probably won't be as great as you may expect. Yes, some supporters will return but remember it is Maldon Town now and not Exeter City etc etc. I think realistically this extra publicity has probably added a bit to the gate but we will be hard pushed to top 500. I hope we do though...

You may well be right Porka but the more we do in between games to get the people there the better. It wont hurt to try.

At the end of the day if we do only get half of what KP and us are hopng to get ,then so be it.We will just have to accept it,obviously, but at least we can say that we gave it OUR best in trying to attract them.
