Well its done. A fine day and lots of hard work by many people. Thanks, all of you for giving your all today. There are many names to thank so I will just say that you know who you are and THANKS enormously.

 

The people now know we are back!

 

By the way we got 2nd prize which when you consider the vast amount of floats entered this year(85) was a major feat.

Well done everybody.

 

Now we must get that ground sorted before the weekend. Help will be rquired this week. Just one more push on that one now and then we can sit back and watch the football, at home at long last.

That was a brilliant event. On the way home at Sewyn Road I saw a kid playing in the alley with a little football and some girls playing with their ball about 40m from my house.

 

Who made the paper mache Margate fan? That was cool. Good to hear that we were one of the few if any that gave anything away. That will undoubtidly work in our favour.

 

One thing remains now and thats getting the stadium ready for Saturday. Ill probably turn up tomorrow and on Tuesday to help with the painting and the other odd jobs that are needed to be done.

I am really pleased that all went well today,I so wanted to be there,but told Cookie this morning that other matters,ie;my own team had to take preference,it sounds like it was total success and IMO everybody that helped and took part has done the club a power of good,well done to you all.

Dont really want to bring politics into this but I just have to say how refreshing it was to have Iris Johnson walking alongside our float today. Generally stewarding the carnival, but on talking to her she seemed very pro Margate fc and was very polite. Helped with distribution of arm bands for us too.

Finally one word of praise for a TORY. I know, someone just fainted on hearing that come from my mouth but yes,the Mayor of Margate & the very brother of our club secretary,(Ken) Mick Tomlinson also seemed very very pro Margate and seemed over the moon with our efforts.Good reception from him and may I say also from all those other council buffers outside the Winter Gardens. That was a welcome change in attitude.

 

Maybe they now realise after today just what an asset this club is for the town.

 

My thoughts, after today are that not only do the people of Margate realise there is a football club here worth supporting but even those that we had thought were anti Margate fc from the council have come round to the idea as well.

Late hope it stays that way.
