Billericay beat Halsted 1-0 in to reach the final of the Essex floodlight trophy, Thanks to a 4th minute goal from from Leon Hunter.

We will now play Heybridge Swifts in the final on Tuesday 9th August at Heybridge.

Please note this will kick off at 7-30 pm.

Not a pretty game to watch for a 'Ricay supporter but we did the business and won it. A pretty lazy game for some of the players which was a worry during the game but Halstead offered nothing in front of goal, not having a shot on target.

Onwards to Heybridge on Tuesday

A mixed bag for us I thought.

Defensively we did quite well, with them not having a single shot on target in the whole game(unless the bloke was deliberating aiming at the bbq!!.) The keeper brought in showed some good positioning and made the right decisions and generally we looked more solid than of late across the back four and I think we have enough defensively to be ok.

Danny did well up top and on another day might have had a couple. We have plenty of striking options and think we'll be fine there.

This brings me to the midfield. Leon was brilliant, up and down the pitch covering every blade of grass and generally being responsible for all our best moments (including his goal). This was just as well as Lay-z and Thomas again put in average performances. In my view the youngsters Simmons and Harrup (if he's still about) have shown more in pre-season. Let's hope our new signings can raise their games when the real action starts....

....so that'll be Tuesday then

I think the team was:

Brighteley

Macca Pat Dobson Kerrigan

Game Thomas Hunter Lay (Dormer - how good is it to see him back!!)

Wareham Hockton

snu Poole, Simmons, Sterling, Smith
