Mr Happy and I followed directions given and were on our way to Ipswich at the time!

The directions to Wivenhoe supplied in the programme and on the website are incorrect. There is no longer an A604 turn-off from the A12. The turn-off is the A133 (Colchester Central). You remain on the A133 negotiating several roundabouts including the one at Colchester Hythe which you can go round either way! After leaving the town you join a dual carriageway, take the first right (B1028) at a set of traffic lights then the next left (B1027). The ground is on your right.

No excuses for getting lost next time Andy!

By the way, we found an excellent pub called The Flag Inn. Excellent choice of good value food and well kept IPA. Instead of turning left onto the B1027 keep on the B1028 - the pub is on your left. On leaving the pub turn right take the right fork and the ground is on your right.

When I went there last season with the Ladies team I didn't bother to double check as I know the area and ground so well, when I got there I went blank and not having a map book with me it took ages before I accidently found it.

Barking & East Ham play at Mayesbrook Park. Take the North Circular to Beckton and join the A13 Eastbound. Turn off after 2 miles at the Ripple Road junction. Take the second exit at the roundabout which is Lodge Ave (A1153). Stay on this road (straight over at the mini-roundabout) and the ground is on your left.

As for pubs, I haven't bothered to look as I will be at the V Festival on Saturday (getting wet according to the forecast). However, The Roundhouse is in Lodge Ave - very close to the ground. This venue has played host to the likes of Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath & Derek and the Dominos. This was many years ago of course and it has changed considerably since then. Just thought it may be of interest to some!

They have a large bar at the ground and a social club just up the road.Parking is a bit limited.
