FIFTY FKING QUID

Recommended Posts

For a ticked in the East Lower for Category A games.

These are: Chelsea, Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Newcastle, and, wait for it, West Ham!!!!

FIFTY QUID?

Yet I've only paid £34 per match with my season ticket. One hell of a saving.

But even behind the goal for Liverpool is gonna be £38, Gertcha.

I would say yes, it does put in in perspective.

It's down to personal choice obviously, but when you consider they charge a couple of quid to go and watch the Review League cup finals and £50+ to watch a decent Prem game, then like it or not, £9 is probably about the right level for the Conf South.

The whole price structure from the top down(excluding England games) is a joke, but if Spurs can charge £50 then you can't knock Conf South teams for charging £9.

9 quid - what's that? 3 pints of stella and a packet of crisps? 9 quid is nothing nowadays, is it? I think that whatever level of football people will moan about the price. At Ewood Park you can get a ticket at a Cat B game for 15 quid. That's 15 quid for a Premiership game - it might not be the best seat in the house, but compared to a lot of clubs it's a good deal.

edited to include: I forgot to say that Rovers fans still moan about the price of getting into a game.

That's a fking good deal!

No, I agree - £9 is nothing. Three pints of Stella and a packet of crisps.

But how are you going to convince the average guy on the street, with a passing interest in his local team, that he'd rather watch the match than have his three pints and a snack??

I'm sure there are many existing supporters of SACFC who would pay £15 if that were the price, but the club will not get any NEW supporters with matches costing a tenner or thereabouts.

I don't know if this as been discussed before but, do you think that one of the things that effects attendences at SACFC is the increase in (not wishing to sound like someone from the League of Gentlemen) "non-local" people living in St Albans? There seems to be be a hell of alot of flats (sorry, luxury two bedroom appartments) springing up in and around the St Albans area that cater for the up-and-coming executive london commuter. I can imagine alot of these people are moving from London and already have "their" football team, and are not really interested in local stuff? (I'm probably wide of the mark here - it's just a guess/idea).

To an extent I'm guilty of this - I'm not from the area and I work in London. I't be interesting to see what the breakdown of St Albans supporters is like, and who the "average guy on the street" is in St Albans now-a-days.

Of course, if SACFC was riding high then it mightbe a different story.

Hi Zag.

I think that you have made a valid point concerning the demographics of the City. [Don't get Thornsy started on this one, by the way. It will go on forever.] Certainly alongside the clear evidence that a number of good people don't come any more, there's little evidence of many newcomers.

It is tempting to suggest that the club send a fixture list and a complimentary ticket for entry to t'Park to some of the new housing developments like Highfield Park, Chime Square etc., or to a house where someone spots that it has just changed hands.

There are, of course, a number of criticisms of a suggestion along those lines. In the light of the apparent difficulty of recruiting stewards and the general lack of volunteers at the club, just who is going to arrange that small task?

Apart from anything else, I am a believer that we should first take a long hard look at our 'product' before resources are spent encouraging people to come and visit it. That, as they say, is another story for another day.
