The Legend That is Manny

Recommended Posts

According to Gravesend and Northfleets official press officer, Kentonline.co.uk the legend that is the great Manny has not signed a pay as you pay contract and is only mulling it over.

Whats your take on the Manny situation Dave? While ive been critical, if he's the clubs highest paid player last season i can understand not wanting to jump in feet first with a 1y contract but it seems absurd that we're basically allowing our best striker "when fit" to leave if he chooses while offering decent contracts to someone like Bowry who was hardly himself fit at Colchester last year.

Not seen enough of Manny to form an oppinion, but is it not rather foolish to come in here demanding the club offer him a contract?

If the player reads this all he then has to do is go to the club and say "well there you go the fans obviously want it, now give me what I'm worth".

The club may not be able to afford having an injury prone player on a full time contract.

Manny's obviously a quality player when fit, but if I was the one offering contracts I wouldn't offer him a full time one.

On the other hand, perhaps being part-time is having a negative effect on his fitness?

Being full-time would surely allow the club to sort out his fitness.

Seems unlikely, he works in a fitness centre.

manny a legend? he spent most of last season injured

OK, so maybe 'legend' is an overused term, but he still managed to score 10 goals last season, and the combination of his talent and the current paucity of strikers at our disposal means that Manny leaving would be a huge blow.

I've not seen anything to say that Graham has signed a new contract, so I'm assuming he was on a two year contract last season.

What about this? OK, so it's the BBC, but I suppose it might be true...

You also have to remember that most teams had manny marked, because of his pace, and also being able to take a defender on. Just remember that, when you cas comments on manny.
