I'm not here to quantify losses, I wanted to know whether or not the media was correct iun saying that a terrorist training centre had been found. I think it was called Salman Pak. And captured terrorists from various organisations around the world have said they were trained in Iraq.

Apparently not. Oh well. I used to think pabird had some very well thought out arguments, even though I didn't always agree with them. But now, they seem to have resorted to bluster and smokescreens, attempting to change the subject whenever a question is asked that they can't answer.

For example, when I first asked if they agreed that there had been state-sponsored terrorist training camps in Iraq, pabird replied, "Pakistan must have trained more suicide bombers than any other country? when do we invade??"

Not only did this fail to answer my question, but it also threw misleading information into the discussion as the Pakistan camps aren't state sponsored.

I'm off on holiday for a week tomorrow. Hopefully when I return, I will see an answer from pabird for the following question:

Am I correct in thinking that Iraq had government backed terrorist training camps?

Interesting and valid points, but the removal of terrorist training camps in Iraq was not among the reasons given to us for invading that country, as far as I recall.

Just back off of holiday
Saddam was hated by the terrorist organisations on two counts
1. He never did allow Islamic thinking to be included in policy
2. He wiped out any terrorist groups in Iraq as he saw them as a threat
In simple terms he was a one man government who objected with great violence to any interference
As for not answering your question I had made the mistake of assuming understanding that the threat is from world wide organisation to rule in the name of Islam (Pakistan an Islamic state) where as Saddam ruled only in the name of Saddam
The Arab Councils would have been well pleased to see Saddam dead but not to have to judge on non-Muslim invasion of Islamic land
For government sponsored read Saddam sponsored for and on behalf of Saddam

As a matter of fact, the so-called 'terrorist training camp' was located in the Kurdish controlled north of Iraq.

 

So. It was nothing to do with the oil, then?

 

I suspect that I do not share pabird's philosophy on everything but I never cease to be amazed that anyone, anywhere, ever, can try to defend the actions of the two most dangerous men on this planet in their illegal, unauthorised and immoral invasion of Iraq.

 

And one more small thing. If, for one nano-second and just for the purpose of this debate, we accept that Bush and Blair truly believed that there were Weapons of Mass Distraction, and that justified the invasion. [Go with me on this just for a couple of moments.] And that it was justified.

 

These lunatics clearly assumed that the Iraqi people would welcome the liberating armies with carpets of rose petals. For the love of Jesus. They had no 'end-game'. Clearly Bush and Blair were taken by surprise at the little local difficulty that has followed the war.

 

And they are at the head of the US and British governments. God help us all.
