How do you think you'll do this season ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Chris remember me and those threads in the Ryman League days. As for us ..its hard to say. I never go on Pre-season matches..they never look good. We really need a good start to ensure the support is high. Personally I think we will get it.

As for you, I expect you will be up there again. Aldershot one way or another will one day be a league club again...but maybe not just yet.

Hi Carjam

Yes I remember from those Ryman days and as you've been up in the Conference a year longer than us, I have been suprised you haven't challenged a bit more.

Hopefully we will both get off to a good start and boost our support.

Maybe we will gain league status one season, but I'm not sure it will be just yet as I said earlier, and I agree Pre-Season games are never a real indicator as they are surlely mostly down to players getting back to fitness and are never really that competitive.

Hi Canv, you really should have conceded when I suggested it. And 'blimey' hav'nt you got a lot of posts now. On a more serious note perhaps we can at last be friends. Its kinda nice that all our teams are playing at a higher level. And Canv, im told your grounds been improved too. Good luck to all of us. As for pre-seson, ive been to one game. I watched Dagenham loose at home to Hull. I went for the beer and to accompany a friend of mine that's mad on 'The Tigers'. If that game was anything to go by then 'Dagenham' have real problems. They were dire. So if you think your own team have been poor...I would say 'wait until the real thing'...then you will know.

indeed i should have..

the away fans at canvey will now have the benefit of their own bar, which was knocked up by some hard working fans, and i think one of those bus stop things for some shelter along the side..

ive seen no pre season games i find them somewhat souless.. reports from last nights effort would suggest we wont be flying out of the blocks this term.. but as you say wait for the real stuff...

accrington away is to far for me to travel but the shots and then the fleet provide two excellent games to kick off with ...

Look forward to trying it and then catching a bus back to the car. I suppose real ale is to much to ask for. I havnt been back since that foggy dark night but certainly will make the trip this time. Good close entertaining game I hope. Maybe that all the others are poorer. Perhaps we will be promoted together. It's all to early for me, make summer longer give us more cricket and keep all the trauma the soccer season brings away for another month. Still, love it really, so 'come on the fleet'. Good luck to us all, though I doubt the 'Shots' need it anything like we will.

i havnt seen the construction yet.. i doubt its an all bar one with 18 staff! might be a fosters pump next to the tom sauce in the burger bar. ;-)...

i cant see promotion as viable for canvey for some years.. survival is the key.. well unless southend release half their squad for some reason.. some midtable security, a few cup runs, double the crowds then a new ground... maybe 5 years down the road ...

i notice more of the 'mid' sized clubs in this league are going full time.. ludicrous at this level!! in fact i would advocate regional football up to league 2 at least ...

this season i think you will have more fun with grays than us...

I reckon so. We might even find Canvey aren't so bad after all. It'll be the equivalent of joining up with Stalin to defeat Hitler... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hi Canv

It is good to have clubs nearby, trouble is you don't really miss them till they aren't there. Bit like Farnblubber for us, you hope they do badly and go down while your in the same league, then when they are gone you find you miss beating them and the nearest trip is Carlisle!
