Nothing much to say was a tad boring and in genreal a week performance, pat, green, mitten, kesiter, all looked good and so did the number 6 for us but oates limped of in the 2nd half <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> no one else really cuaght my eye.

We need greeny to sign and we need some firepower up front!

Thanks for info anyway. We MUST get Green to sign, still playing PSF's at least for us! Agree need firepower up front but at least a win is a win! Who scored for us?

What I think he was trying to say, Tony, is, 'was it going to go in anyway?'. I think the answer to that is, probably. A cross found number 9, who pushed the ball goalwards, and it was deflected in off their number 14.

Some positives and negatives today. We looked solid at the back again, but much brighter in midfield. Part of that was to do with Pat playing, but also the number 6 that Gate4tehwin mentioned (is his name Hakim?) and also a number 11, (who impressed me in the first half, although dropped off in the second) were playing. Plus Greg, of course, who is not yet fit but is certainly revealing his class even if he is slower than normal. The negative here was that Dean Standen was not in the squad, and I quite liked him from previous games. As a result of the improved midfield we made a much brighter start and had more attempts in the opposition's half than we have seen to date, plus some very nice touches on the ball and some good passing moves, despite the rather shaggy grass of the pitch. The negative here is that despite the better service forward, we still do not have an obvious target man, or at least one who is on his game enough to find the back of the net.

Perhaps Chris is building from the back forward? I hope so, else I cannot see where the goals will come from when we play against better opposition. There was a forward numbered 9, I think he came from Lewes, who held the ball up well and seemed to have very good positional awareness, but some of our fans there rated him, some did not, I thought he looked as if he might be a bit handy, but it is hard to judge after only one game.

Greg went off in the second half, and also Aaron, and a lad numbered 16 came on as right wing back, was he called Birmingham? He was quite good, strong and quick, same as the last time I saw him. Sylvester also came on for the one I think is called Dexter, who had been playing up front this game, instead of midfield the last time I saw him. If I have got any of the names wrong I hope someone will correct me.

So, some pluses, but I am still worried about the forwards.

Chatham, by the way, had a very quick young striker called Byron, who rather impressed me.

And at least the rain held off.

[color:"blue"]Nice summary MF, I would add that, for the first ten minutes we looked quite sharp - in that period the no 9 (Marc Whiteman - released from Lewes) looked sharp, but it's quite difficult for strikers to come into a game and play alongside a bunch of strangers. Supporting him was 10 (Dexly Fidyk - a squad player for Hastings last season), and (11) Daniel Sacha - who was more impressive in the Dover game. After 10 mins we went a bit quiet and Chatham gradually got into the game. I think all the 'Gate fans I spoke too liked the no 6 - unfortunately didn't catch his name (their ground was nice for the Dr Martens first division but their PA was useless).

In the 2nd half there were two chunky defenders who came on .. 12 was Denver Birmingham (a former benchwarmer at Hartsdown .. who was with Wingate & Finchley last season) who came on for Greg, and no 16 (Elvis?) who came on (eventually) for Aaron. Pat went to full back and both played in the centre (they looked identical .. (sorry if that sounds racist), so don't know if both or just one was good. I think that Chris should give the reserve keeper at least 45 minutes, then at least we'll know if he gets nervous and careless under pressure (like Nej had a tendancy to do).

I too liked the look of their 11 (Byron Walker but he was slight in build and, when Greg went off, was easily knocked off the ball by Denver.

Rumour is that Leon (who is on holiday in USA) could be back in a 'Gate shirt in one of the next friendlies. This was relayed by one of the players to a couple of our fans.

Denver Birmingham didn't come on, the bloke who came on at right wing back was somebody else - think his first name was Lee. Agree he looked handy though.

I see the Chatham site reports the teamas folow:

Mitten, Oates,Green,Edwards, Barnett,Heero,Keister,Gradley,Whiteman, Fidyk,Sacha.

subs:Aorojogun,Junju,Dean(not standen)Osman,Birmingham,Hillaire.

Sounds like Arojugun who came on for Greg-he was with the Gate last year before going to Carlshalton and think made about 2 sub appearances
