What a Shambles

And I don't mean the match.

I am refering to the new car parking arrangements now that yet another chunk of the car park has been leased out and fenced off. By taking that part of the car park rather than, say fencing off a section next to the current coach park, the club has made it next to impossible to get out if the car in front of you doesn't move.

It took me 15 minutes to get out yesterday, even though I arrived before 2:00, but because there was no way for the car behind me to go sideways (except by driving through the fence) him and I had to wait until we could get out by reversing all the way to the far end of the car park and creep out through a gap next to the Telford coaches.

I know we get more money by leasing out the car park but really a bit of thought could have gone into the consequences for the ordinary punters.

So now as a season ticket holder, I have the wonderful choice of parking in the car park and waiting ages to get out or parking in Grove Road and walking all the way round the ground to get in the season ticket holders gate. Is this what I paid my £1,000 for? I don't think so.

I couldn't agree more. Perhaps more thought could have gone into the design of the fenced off areas. Perhaps a JCB should be hired to remove the wild vegeatation at the back of the Swanscombe End stand to allow more cars to be accommodated in the car park and maybe there should only be a limited number(first come first served, or sold on an advance ticket basis) number of car park spaces made available on the day of a match.

Yesterday was chaotic and must be addressed.

I gave up parking in the club car park for that very reason Dave, what a nightmare it is trying to get out after the match. However, I was over the moon when the club confirmed that from this season there would also be a season ticket holders entrance at The Plough end of the ground. So I now park opposite in the industrial estate, I usually arrive at the ground around 2pm and there are always plenty of places to park.

Where is this season ticket gate at the Plough. I must admit I enjoy having paid for my season ticket as there seems to be the added bonus of walking through deep puddles and muddy concrete thrown in free. I'd happily go in the Plough end just to escape that. I was under the impression that the season ticket entrance at that end was only operational during segregated games.

Same here Jimmy, I thought the Season Ticket entrance at The Plough end was only opened during the segregated games, but I have used this entrance for all the home games so far this season, including yesterdays game against Telford.

The entrance is on the left hand side, (if you're looking at the ground), of the paying turnstiles, if I can remember rightly, I think there is a sheet of A4 paper pinned above the entrance.

Yes indeed.......there is an entrance for season ticket holders at the main Stonebridge Road end....and , if your are too early, like I was for the Nuneaton game, having walked and underestimated the distance to the ground, then there is a kind chap who unlocked the door for me ! ( having walked all that way, I thought twice about legging up the hill to the G & D !! )........A4 paper will do for me !! what do you expect ? neon lights ??

Cheers,

Yes indeed.

Strongbow gets no complaints from me in the newly refurbished bar...it gets a bit warm in the plastic "glasses".....but that's life Esther....better Strongbow in plastic "glasses" than Merrydown in real ones !!

G & D also does a nice Strongbow...helps me trundle down the hill !!!!

Depending on the route I take....Strongbow is also consumed pre and post match in The Central ( sorry...Ascot Arms !! )......and pre match in The Somerset Arms !

Perhaps I should post this on the Hereford site....Mr Bulmer might send me a few cans....although I did pay a visit to the Hereford Cider Museum whilst on hols in the summer !!.....tried some Cider Brandy !! not too bad but a bit strong for pre match consumption !!

Sad or what ?

Cheers,
