they were had a interview with Liam about some of the players.

Manny is on a pay as you play contract.

Kim Grant is set to sign.

Craig Holloway is differently a target.

good news really as well as there should be FOUR new signings before the Exeter game

I know we are not supposed to pick up on spelling/grammar mistakes but ffs read it before you post it.

If Manny only has a 'pay as you play' contract don't be surprised if someone else signs him.

To be paid only if a player plays is the most insecure "contractual" arrangement possible. We obviously do not know if this is primarily a requirement of the Club or Manny, but from a supporters viewpoint it increases the uncertainty of the status of this player for all our fixtures. Like Slarti I wouldn't be surprised if Manny left quite soon. I hope not, but the signs are that if he is not subject to a contract with us that he will leave at some point and of course be completely free to do so.

Its just cr*p. We can offer Grant a full time deal and not even the magician a permanent deal. There's loyalty for you, he should have done a Pullen and f*cked off before the season started. If you read this Manny you have a lot of fans on this board, its a shame the management think a reserve team full time goalkeeper is more important than you.

I would think it's not Manny's ability that's in question, but his fitness level. He missed most of last season through injury, and I would think it's only prudent to wait for him to prove he can take a few games to see how it goes.Saying that, i'm a big fan of Manny and i'm sure along with many other fans, that we keep him.

That leads one to ask why Porter, a player with similar qualms over his fitness if the number of injuries he suffered last season is anything to go by, was awarded a new contract almost straight away.

Don't get me wrong, I would keep both Porter and Manny, but it does seem a trifle inconsistent. Indeed, I would have to agree with Matt 100% that making a full-time second-choice 'keeper a priority over offering Manny a new contract would be a pretty bizarre decision.

I should change my Andy Fords red and white army slogan but am convinced still he's a better manager than what we've got given the right resources.

Time will tell, and I'm certainly not going to judge at this stage. But as I've said before, I do feel a real sense of regret that Andy left the club after what ultimately seemed to be a bit of a needless misunderstanding.

Probably just as much a shame that the Ade Pennock/ Andy Ford partnership was broken up. They did seem to have a genuine understanding, and speaking to Ade regularly ,he has admitted managing a Conf, south club with promotion aspirations was the only thing that was going to make him leave Gravesend.

Also a shame about the timing. if Ade had still been here he might A) have talked Andy out of leaving or B) replaced him with a lot less disruption than has happened.

Apart from the few people on here who didn't think Andy Ford was capable of managing a Conference team most of us were probably dissapointed at Andy's departure but that was last season and we have a n ew one about to kick off.

Liam Daish's red and white army.

To be honest I think most fans agree with you WVN

However, it would have been good to have taken the opportunity appoint a manager with at least Andy's level of Conference experience.

Indeed, Mr Daish will now have a cleen slate to start a season with "his squad"

As for this fiasco with Manny, without doubt the most skillful player on our books and a proven dangerman at this level. A club needs a striker to put the fear of god into the other team's defences and he does that.

Why on earth is there a question mark surrounding him - he just needs some good physio work and I'm sure he'll get this with our "new very professional approach".

On the subject of strikers though, I still haven't seen a player being recruited who is as good as or better than Roy, so why let him go before we make the improvement.

I had a long chat with a group of very longstanding and loyal Fleet fans last week and everyone was in agreement that we are starting the season with a much weaker and unproven squad than last season.

And, we are all very worried about the goalkeeping situation.

I agree with you about Manny, RR, and that we may have an unproven squad... but if you look at the squad comings-and-goings, I don't think that man-for-man an argument that we are weaker can be substantiated - on paper at least. In the forward department, possibly, but only if we're talking about Roy. Pinnock and Sigere won't be missed.
