fair enough, looking at the forum now to back then it is a completely different prospect! i think lots of players and officials have to be careful what they say and have probably been told in not so many words by their club!!!

talking about the first goal..i was under the impression the ref is supposed to blow the whistle before a penalty is taken didnt hear one before matty glynn scored..anyone know what happend there?

Firstly it was a free kick, not a penalty. Secondly, if a player asks to take a free kick quickly, on the understanding that the defence may not be 10 yards away, then the ref should allow him to do so.

The referee only needs to blow his whistle twice in each half - once to start the match and again to finish the half.

 

A free kick may be taken quickly - it is up to the opposition to be ready for it. If however a quickly taken free kick 'goes wrong' then play should continue.
