Thought the Rebels played excellent in the first half but couldn't find their feet in the second. Metcalfe was outstanding and Adrian Brown played very well. Thought Byron Bubb was poor aside from the goal and could not understand why Gilkes was taken off when he had had such an influential first half. But aside from all that the Slough won again, eight games unbeaten can't be bad.

Thought we started quite well playing some good passing football, but light weight up front-Sammy was his usual dangerous quick self-but surely as we are at home shouldn't we have more than one reconised striker in the front line.As I said once before, Winston and Hale looked good as a pair against Northwood.

I thought most of the team played reasonably, apart from sometimes over doing it,but Spencer was not with it today-and certainly at home B.Budd seems a far better prospect.Still we won without Steve Daly can't be all that bad.

Did we make hard work of that or what ??? I didn't think we played well at all . Did in a couple of spurts , Barton were crap as was the officials . Ryman Div.1 Reffs are p*** poor .

Agree with you wayne,Barton didnt offer anything really promising should have scored more against this sort of opposition.Palmer,A Browne, Barras,Spencer and Metcalfe were our best players today Sammy worked hard with no reward. It makes you wander how some of these officials got through to officiate,i think the linesman in the 1st half on the end that we were attacking doesnt know what offside is,flag happy or what? Keep the unbeaten run going passed next week lads.C'MON YOU REBELS.

Agree with Wayne and Barrington in that we were poor. With only one proper striker, Bubb and Gilkes trying to join him where possible, against supposedly one of the weaker sides in the league, it does make you wonder. It also concerns me that having played seven league games now, we've not beaten anyone by more than two goals? The majority of our victories are single goals and that is cause for concern given our style of play which I feel is very negative.

Thought Metcalfe again played well in midfield and that Adrian Brown had another encouraging performance at the back although did have his lack of pace shown up a few times at the end.

Winston and Hale should be starting upfront together in each game and Byron Bubb is coming on as he develops an understanding with the team. Thought Byron took his goal well yesterday.

We aren't negative at all - compared to last season we aren't where we'd sit on a goal lead - our problem is we can't kill teams off . We're always capable of creating chances whether we play badly or not , but either the shooting is poor or the final ball is crap . Other than the Northwood and Harlow games this has been our problem . Still conceade silly goals .

I think the final ball is what has let us down. Against Northwood & Harlow we played the ball around neatly up until the final third where we couldn't find that through ball.

It was almost as evident Saturday as I don't think we had that many clear chances against what was in effect a poor Barton side which was made to look good when we let them back into it.

I think that is the most obvious first choice 11 we've had in a while.

Just looking at replacements though as Veli is due in court on Thursday and could well not be available on Saturday for the AFC Totten game in the FA Cup. Thing is then, who replaces him?

Whilst the first eleven is quite strong, I feel our replacements are possibly not good enough to be in contention to replace them.

Alvin Bubb can replace one of the strikers and can do a good enough job. Spencer has looked ok in midfield and Adrian Brown has looked comfortable (Except against pace in a straight sprint) when slotting in at the back.

Jury is still out on Ricky Browne & Tony Boot.

I just hope we don't get too many suspensions or injuries this season....

My opinion is that Bubb was poor on Saturday and from performances so far this season I would definately play Spencer ahead of him.

I think it's good for Spencer to have some competition down on that right hand side. Bubb is equally comfortable on either wing which should also give Gilkes that necessary kick up the [****!!****] that he sometimes needs.

Bubb is improving with every game, although I still think he's a bit too ball greedy. He needs to release it more instead of trying to beat one man too many.

In comparison, both of them have a superb first touch. Speaking of that, some of Gilkes take down's are a class above, but I still think he's too lazy

Can't say something nice about him without giving him some stick as well, wouldn't be right for me

Leave Gilkes alone!

I know Byron scored, and he is getting better but I would still play Spencer ahead of him, even though Spencer plays a lot better in a central midfield position in my opinion.

As for the striker situation on Saturday you had Gilkes going out wide to receive the ball as well as Sammy as they both like to play on the wing. Therefore when the ball went in the box there was nobody there. That's why either Hale or Boot must play so there is always someone through the middle. Have not seen enough of Alvin Bubb to tell what type of striker he is. I'd play Hale with Sammy personally.

Now as for Anthony Howard, he is an excellent player - at right back. Seems to go walk-about at centre back and have not seen him have a really good game there. I'm one of the ones that's not sure about Ricky Browne, but it does offer us a good balance with him being left footed.

Personally I think Adrian Brown's performance against Thame and on Saturday have pushed his case to partner Daly at the back. So it's a difficult choice who patner's Daly.

Anyway going back to Anthony, i'd put him at right back now even before Palmer who has done really well since he's joined. I know it's a bit harsh, but I think Anthony's a better defender and just as good as Dean coming forward.

Oh yeah, report now on-line, sorry for the delay!

Would it not be possible to push Palmer onto the right wing with Howard behind?

Spencer could act as cover for Hakki with his court case pending in the centre of midfield with either Palmer or Byron Bubb outside him.

As for the strikers, agree totally that Winston and Hale should be upfront together. They've linked well so far, and hopefully Browne will pair them together at Arsley tomorrow night.

Alvin makes for a good addition later in the game as he is quick and has good skills with the ball but won't offer much aerially. He had a good debut at Uxbridge, but we've not seen him since, but I'm sure his time will come.

As for Gilkes, judging by his face when he was brought off, he didn't look happy. Maybe he was brought off to be rested for Tuesday, but please don't play him upfront again. He's more effective (ahem) out wide on the left distributing the ball to Winston and Hale in the middle.
