Dover vs Margate .........................

It was an even game. Dover started both halves strongly - but Margate grew in confidence as the halves progressed. On a positive note for Whites, the team looked solid and the partnership between Tyne and Wilkins up front looked very dangerous. For those of you who support Margate, your team showed encouraging signs and if they continue to develop on tonight's potential they will be in for a good season.

FULL SCORE 1-1

More than happy with that. Good work out. Reckon CK will want to strengthen up front, and get one more in at back. Gradley to come in as well. Ullathorne used to be a Purfleet - clever player but drifts in and out of games. All left foot so will add balance. Would be useful player to get.

Ullathorne as you say DID drift away and though starting well was replaced at a time when he was in fact out of the game. The guy that scored looked fairly good. No:11 also. He put over a cracking hard & low cross for the assist in the goal. Generally we defended for long periods and apart from the goal didnt really test their keeper. However it was a good work out and after nearly all subs were made it turned out to be a learning game from everyones point of view.

It all bodes well for the future, though getting all those similar foreign players(know what I mean) comng on did confuse slightly as to who was who.

Darren Watson sitting in stand. Asked him if he was signing he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say "dont know yet".

Good turn out, good singing from the boys and overall a good nights work.

Just a couple more things. Dover looked quite ordinary really though I am sure their youngsters will improve but when facing a more compact team may find themselves wanting.

Enjoyable game though paying £8 was a minus point. I heard that because they have a CVA they arent allowed to reduce prices. Not sure if that is correct but thats what an elderly Dover fan said.

Their pitch looked terrific and the improvements made to the tea hut were a definate plus point. Floodlights looked good and bright without the glare that was evident at Ashford. They have done well close season with the improvements. Credit where credits due.

[color:"blue"]I agree we need a tall, powerful central defender - Bill and Aaron looked decidely pedestrian tonight. Have reservations about Darren, looks good comin off the bench in the second half, but when he starts a game it's as if he's a completely different person. Standen(no 11) & Sasha (no 8) didn't look too bad in midfield, but neither seemed to be ball winners. Greenie was excellent again For gawd sake sign him Chris - before someone else spots him!

Up front Sylvester Nnumudi looks strong (and he knows where the back of the net is), but I thought Simon Ullathorne got caught too much with their offside trap for such an experienced player.

Could be wrong but I seem to remember reading somewhere on this board that Mr Maskell had never seen us play which is utterly bizarre for somebody who's posted over 200 messages! Wasn't it that he hoped to make it to Ramsgate? Hope the trips not too much for him. Apologies if this is wrong but if it is then how many games has he seen?

Ill be there at Southwood for the Ramsgate-Margate game. The fans have always known Im yet to see Margate play.

I think this forum has already been through the "how much of a fan is jkmaskell?" thread. One suggestion, when you put a message here to criticise me, at least have the decency to put your name on the message please.
